Panels of lace diamonds decorate this pretty short-sleeved top by Sarah Hatton. Each diamond has a cluster of wrapped stitches at its centre. The garment is worked in two pieces, with the sleeves shaped as part of the front and back, and finished with a simple neckband and deep armhole edgings. Sarah has used Patons Smoothie DK, which has a soft, silky feel and a subtle sheen, and comes in a wide choice of lovely colours.

Fiona Morris has cleverly combined two different weights of Debbie Bliss yarns to create her lacy summer top. Shaped panels for the front and back are knitted first in a sport weight merino yarn, and feature a pretty lace stitch pattern. Next, stitches are picked up along the sides using a laceweight yarn, and garter stitch side panels are knitted on, with openings left for the arms. The result is a garment that is soft, feminine and a treat to wear.
