Note: Yarn amounts given are based on average requirements and are approximate.

TENSION

21 sts and 28 rows to 10cm over st st using 4.5mm needles.

Use larger or smaller needles if necessary to obtain correct tension.

ABBREVIATIONS

sk2po = slip next stitch, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over (decrease 2)

FC = Front cross: knit next 2 sts on LH needle together without removing the stitches from the needle, knit the first stitch again then slip both stitches from the needle

TIPS

You can use the 4.5mm circular needle for the straight sections as well as the circular knitting. Just work backwards and forwards as if on straight needles.

PATTERN NOTES

The Sleeve Edgings are working first, then the Bodice. The pieces are then joined and the Yoke is the final section worked.

The garment is designed to be worked with negative ease.

SLEEVE EDGINGS (Worked in rows, work both the same)

With 4mm circular needle cast on 51 sts.

Edging row 1: Knit.

Edging row 2: Knit.

Edging row 3 (eyelets): K1, (yo, k2tog) to end.

Edging row 4 (dec): K24, k2tog, k25 (50 sts).

Leave sts on a holder.

These 10 rows form st st and Eyelet Lace Bodice patt.

Work these 10 rows 15[19:23] times more, (16[20:24] reps in total).

Cast off taking care not to pull sts too tightly. Turn knitted piece 90 degrees anticlockwise so that the right hand (straight) edge now becomes the top of the bodice.

Using Kitchener stitch or the grafting method, join together the cast-on and cast-off edges to create a circular Bodice tube. Place marker to show beg of each 10 row rep along straight edge.

JOIN SLEEVE EDGINGS AND BODICE

Foundation Rnd: With 4.5mm circular needle and starting at seam and first marker on Bodice, pick up and k60[70:80] sts across next 7[9:11] 10 row reps, miss one 10 row patt rep and in its place k50 sts on holder for first Sleeve edging, starting at beg of next row patt rep pick up and k60[70:80] sts across next 7[9:11] 10 row reps, miss one 10 row patt rep and in its place k50 sts on holder for second Sleeve edging, pm to show beg/end of each Rnd. 220[240:260] sts.

Cont in rnds as folls slipping marker as it appears.
