3[3:4:4] x 25g balls 50 Sea Fret (D)

1 pair each 3.25mm and 4mm needles

TENSION

22 sts and 30 rows to 10cm over st st using 4mm needles.

Use larger or smaller needles if necessary to obtain correct tension.

ABBREVIATIONS

wyib = with yarn in back

BACK

Using size 3.25mm needles and A cast on 111 [119:127:135] sts.

Rib row 1 (RS): (K1, p1) to last st, k1.

Rib row 2 (WS): (P1, k1) to last st, p1.

Rep last 2 rows 8 more times, inc 1 st at end of last row. 112[120:128:136] sts.

Change to 4mm needles.

Chevron Stripes 

Change to yarn B

Row 1 (RS): (K1, sl3 wyib) to end of row.

Row 2 (WS): P1, (sl1 wyif, p3) to end, ending last rep p2.

Row 3: Knit.

Row 4: Purl. Change to C.

Rows 5 to 8: As Rows 1 to 4. Change to D.

Rows 9 to 12: As Rows 1 to 4. Change to B.

Rows 13 to 16: As Rows 1 to 4. Change to E.

Rows 17 to 20: As Rows 1 to 4. Change to A.

Rows 21 to 24: As Rows 1 to 4.

These 24 rows form pattern.

Cont in patt until work meas 34[34:35:35]cm (13.5[13.5:13.75:13.75]in) from cast-on edge.

Shape armhole

Cast off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows.

104[112:120:128] sts.**

Cont in patt for a further 20.5[21.5:22.5:23.5]cm (8[8.5:8.75:9.25]in) ending with a WS row.

Shape shoulder

Cast off 13[14:15:17] sts at beg of next 4 rows.

Sl rem 52[56:60:60] sts on a holder.

FRONT

Work as for Back to **.

Cont in patt until armhole meas 15[15:16:16]cm (6[6:6.25:6.25]in) in patt ending on a WS row.

Shape right neck

Next row (RS): Patt 40[43:46:49] sts, cast off 24[26:28:30] sts patt to end.

Dec 1 st at neck edge until 26[28:30:34] sts rem.

Cont in patt until Front matches Back ending at shoulder edge.

Shape shoulder

Cast off 13[14:15:17] sts at beg of next row and foll alt row.

Shape left neck

Rejoin yarn to rem sts, work as for right neck reversing shapings.

SLEEVES

Using size 3.25mm needles and A cast on 53[55:57:59] sts and work 21 rows in rib as for Back.

Next row (inc) (WS): Rib 4, (m1, rib 5) to last 4[1:3:5] sts, rib to end inc in last st.

64(67:69:71] sts.

Change to 4mm needles and work 6 rows in patt as for Back.

Inc 1 st at each end of next row and every foil 8th row to 100[103:105:107] sts.

Cont until work meas 48cm (19in) from cast-on edge.

Cast off.

NECKBAND

Join left shoulder seam. With RS facing, using A and 3.25mm needles k52[56:60:60] sts from holder, pick up and k21[22:23:24] from left front neck, 23[25:27:29] sts from centre front, and 21 [22:23:24] sts from right front neck. 117[125:133:137] sts.

Work in rib for 2.5cm (lin).

Cast off in rib.

TO FINISH OFF

Press gently on the WS using a steam iron, join rem shoulder seam.

Set Sleeves into square shape formed by cast off and sew using back stitch darning in loose ends as you go. Join short side seam on Front and Back to edge of Sleeve, join Sleeve and side seams using a flat stitch on the rib and back stitch on the main body, oversewing loose ends into the seam as you go.
