14 sts and 26 rows to 10cm over Knotted Rib using 4.5mm needles and yarn doubled after blocking.

18 sts and 20 rows to 10cm over Lace Pattern using 4mm needles and yarn doubled after blocking.

Use larger or smaller needles if necessary to obtain correct tension.

s1k = slip 1 stitch knitwise

Wind yarn into a cake so that you can work with both ends from the same ball.

This garment requires wet blocking after knitting. The lace section is knitted on slightly smaller needles to take account of change in tension and is fully reversible.

It is also slightly longer than the rib section so that it can be draped around the shoulders more easily.

Yarn is used doubled throughout.

Using 4.5mm needles and two strands of yarn cast on 72 sts.

Row 1 (WS): S1k, k to end of row.

Row 2: S1k, k1, (p2, k1tbl), to last 4 sts, p2, k2.

Cont in patt as set until work meas 88cm (34.75in) and ending on a WS row.

Weave in any loose ends and then soak in lukewarm water for 15 minutes using a suitable wool hand wash. Rinse thoroughly. Roll in a clean, dry towel to remove excess moisture and then block, so that rib section measures 47cm x 88cm (18.5in x 34.5in), and lace section measures 47cm x 132cm (18.5in x 52in)

When dry, remove pins and with RSs facing, join cast-on to cast-off edge using backstitch or mattress stitch if preferred.
