Finished Size About 70" (178 cm) long and 15" (38 cm) wide.

Yarn Worsted weight (#4 Medium).

Shown here: Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted (100% superwash merino; 225 yd [206 m]/4 oz [113 g]), butterscotch, 5 skeins or 983 yd (899 m) of a similar yarn.

Needles Size U.S. 6 (4 mm). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions Tapestry needle.

Gauge

20 sts and 28 rows = 4" (10 cm) in St st.

25 1/2 sts and 25 rows = 4" (10 cm) in lace pattern, blocked.

A word about construction: This shawl is worked in one piece from end to end. If you want to make it shorter or longer, simply work the lace chart additional or fewer times. Rows 1-20 of the chart = 3 1/4" (8.5 cm).

To finish with the scalloped edge, end your knitting on Row 4 or Row 14 of the chart.

Shawl

CO 95 sts using the long-tail method (Techniques).

Work 5 rows in garter st (knit every row).

Next row (RS): Work Row 1 of the right half of the Lace chart, pm, work Row l of the left half of the Lace chart. 

Cont in patt as estab, working Rows 1-20 of the Lace chart 21 times.

Work Rows 1-4 of the Lace chart once more. Work 5 rows in garter st, removing m. BO all sts kwise. 

Finishing

Weave in loose ends. Block to finished measurements.
