TENSION
20 sts and 32 rows to 10cm over snowdrop stitch, when blocked, using 5mm needles.
STITCHES
Lacy Rib (worked over multiple of 8 + 5 sts)
Row 1: K1, *yo, Sl 1, K2tog, psso, yo, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1; rep from * to last 4 sts, yo, Sl 1, K2tog, psso, yo, K1 tbl.
Row 2: K1, P4, *K1, P1, K1, P5; rep from * to last 8 sts, K1, P1, K1, P4, K1 tbl.
Snowdrop Stitch (worked over a multiple of 8 + 5 sts)
Rows 1 & 3: K1 *yo, Sl 1, K2tog, psso, yo, K5; rep from * to last 4 sts, yo, Sl 1, K2tog, psso, yo, K1 tbl.
Rows 2, 4, 6 & 8: Purl
Row 5: K1, *K3, yo, skpo, K1, K2tog, yo; rep from * to last 4 sts, K3, K1 tbl.
Row 7: K1, *yo, Sl 1, K2tog, psso, yo, K1; rep from * to last 4 sts, yo, Sl 1, K2tog, psso, yo, K1 tbl.
Repeat these 8 rows.
BACK
Using 5mm needles, cast on 85 (93:101:109: 117) sts and work 4 rows in garter st. Work 80 rows in Snowdrop patt as above. Work should measure 26cm.
Change to 4mm needles and cont in Lacy Rib patt until work measures 52 (52:53 1/2:54 3/4:54 3/4) cm from cast-on edge, ending on a WS row
SHAPE SHOULDER AND NECK
Next row (RS): Work 26 (30:34:37:41) sts in patt, place centre 33 (33:33:35:35) sts on holder, join a second ball of yarn and work to end. Working both sides at the same time in patt, dec 1 st at both neck edges on next and foll alt row.
At the same time work and place 7 (9:10:11:12) sts on holder at armhole edge on next row, (for left back neck it will be foll row), and 8 (9:10:11:13) sts on foll alt row. Work 1 row then cast off over all 24 (28:32:35:39) sts on both sides.
FRONT
Work as for back until work measures 36 3/4 (36 3/4:38:39 1/2:39 1/2) cm from cast-on edge, ending on a WS row.
NECKLINE
Next row: Work 13 (15:17:19:21) sts, place centre 59 (63:67:71:75) sts on holder, join a second ball of yarn and work to end. Working both straps at once, work 1 row in patt, then inc as foll, keeping patt correct:
Inc 1 st at neck edge on next, then every foll alt row 0 (3:7:9:13) times, then every foll 4th row 10 (9:7:6:4) times.
24 (28:32:35:39) sts.
Cont in patt until work measures 52 (52:53 1/2:54 3/4:54 3/4) cm from cast-on edge, ending on WS row.
SHAPE SHOULDER
Work and place 7 (9:10:11:12) sts on holder at armhole edge on next row, (for right front neck it will be foll row), and 8 (9:10:11:13) sts on foll alt row. Work 1 row, then cast off over all 24 (28:32:35:39) sts.
SLEEVES
Using larger needles, cast on 101 (101:101:109:109) sts and work 2 rows in garter stitch. Then refer to Snowdrop Stitch and cont in patt until work measures approx 25 1/2 (25 1/2:25 1/2:28:28) cm from cast-on edge, ending on full repeat of patt.
XS and S only
Next row: K31, (K2tog) 3 times, (K3tog) 9 times, (K2tog) 3 times, K31. 77 (77) sts.
M only
Next row: K33, (K2tog) 5 times, (K3tog) 4 times, (K2tog) 6 times, K34. 82sts.
L & XL only
Next row: K36, (K2tog) 4 times, (K3tog) 7 times, (K2tog) 4 times, K36. 87 (87) sts.
Cast off loosely purlwise.
FINISHING
Use a small neat backstitch on edge of work for all seams except welts, where an invisible slip stitch should be used.
Join right shoulder seam.
Then using smaller needles, with RS facing, pick up and K34 (36:38:38:40) sts down left front neck edge, K59 (63:67:71:75) sts from holder at centre front, K34 (36:38:38:40) sts up right front neck, K2 sts down right back neck, K33 (33:33:35:35) sts from holder at centre back and K2 sts up left back neck. 164 (172:180:186:194) sts. Knit 1 row and then cast off knitwise.
Join left shoulder seam. Measure 19 (19:20 1/2:21 1/2:21 1/2) cm down each side from shoulder seams and place marker. Insert sleeves within markers, placing any fullness across top of shoulder. Join side and sleeve seams in one line. Block gently, according to instructions on ball band.
