SIZES

To fit: 81-86[91-97:102-107]cm (32-34[36-38:40-42]in)

Actual measurement: 86-91[97-102:107-112]cm (34-36[38-40:42-44]in)

Length to shoulder (unpressed): 48[52:56]cm (10[20.5:22]in)

Sleeve length: 41.5[44:46.5]cm (16[17:18.5]in)

Figures in square brackets refer to larger sizes: where there is only one set of figures this applies to all sizes.

Lana Gatto Super Soft DK100% Merino extra fine new wool (approx 125m per 50g)

9[10:11]x 50g balls 12260 Light Blue

1 pair 5mm needles

Stitch markers

Stitch holder

Row counter

Note: Yarn amounts given are based on average requirements and are approximate.

TENSION

18 sts and 24 rows to 10cm over st st using 5mm needles.

17 sts and 24 rows to 10cm over patt using 5mm needles.

Use larger or smaller needles if necessary to obtain correct tension. 

ABBREVIATIONS

k1 yo1 = Knit 1 stitch putting yarn over needle once.

k1 yo2 = Knit 1 stitch putting yarn over needle twice.  

PATTERN NOTES

Pattern is worked over 10 sts + 4 sts and 8 rows. All parts of the instructions worked in pattern sequence have had 2 sts added to the row width, as the first and last stitch will be a knit st to create an edge.

Row 1: K1, *k4, k1 yo1, (k1 yo2) 4 times, k1 yo1; rep from * to last 5 sts, k4, k1. 

Row 2: Knit dropping all extra loops from previous row.

Rows 3 and 4: Knit.

Row 5: K1, (k1 yo2) 4times, k1 yo1, k4, *k1 yo1, (k1 yo2) 4 times, k1 yo1, k4, rep from * to * to last 6 sts, k1 yo1, (k1 yo2) 4 times k1.

Row 6: Knit dropping all extra loops from previous row.

Rows 7 and 8: Knit.

BACK

With 5mm needles cast on 76[86:96] sts. Knit 8 rows in g-st. Starting with Row 1 of patt work 102[112:122] rows in patt. Work should meas approx 46.5[50.5:54.5]cm (18.25[20:21.5]in) from cast-on edge. 

Shape neck

Patt 21 [24:28], turn. Working on these 21 [24:18] sts only, work a further 3 rows. Cast off. Rejoin yarn to rem sts, cast off centre 34[38:40] sts for centre back neck, patt to end. Work 4 rows on last 21 [24:28] sts. Cast off.

FRONT

Work as for Back until 96[106:116] patt rows of pattern have been completed.

Shape neck

Patt 30[33:37] sts, turn, leave rem sts on a holder. Dec 1 st at neck edge of next 9 rows. 21[24:28] sts. Cast off. Rejoin yarn to rem sts, cast off centre 16(20:22] sts, patt to end. Cont to work with each side separately. Dec 1 st at neck edge of next 9 rows. 21[24:28] sts. Cast off on WS.

COLLAR

With WSs together, sew right shoulder seam. With RS facing rejoin yarn to neck edge. Pick up and k90[96:100] sts evenly around front and back neck edge. Beg with a p row cont in st st until collar meas 18cm (7in) (approx 48 rows). Cast off loosely. With WSs facing join left shoulder seam and side seam of collar.

SLEEVES

With RS facing measure down from top of shoulder seam 16[17:18]cm (6.25[6.75:7]in)down Front edge and 16[17:18]cm (6.25[6.75:7]in) down Back edge and put in markers for Sleeve. With RS facing pick up and k32[34:36] sts from front edge, 32[34:36] sts from Back edge. 64(68:72] sts. Beg with a p row work 4(2:8] rows in st st. Work 80(88:88] rows, dec 1 st at each end of next and every foil 8th row. 42(44:48] sts. Work 8 more rows without shaping.

Next row (RS): Knit, dec 6(4:4] sts evenly across row. 36(40:44] sts. Knit 8 rows in g-st. Cast off loosely.

TO FINISH OFF

Fold cast-off edge of collar to inside of neck edge. Evenly stitch collar in place ensuring there is enough ease in the seam so it will stretch without breaking when pulling jumper off and on. With WSs facing sew up side seams, underarms and Sleeves on both sides. Sew in all loose ends of yarn securely.
