Lana Grossa "Alta Moda Alpaca" (90% Alpaca, 5% Wool, 5% Polyamide, yardage = 140 m/50 g) 350 g dark gray heather (#22), 50 g each fuchsia heather (#38) and olive heather (#43).
Knitting needles one pair each sizes US 8 and 9 (5 and 5.5 mm), one circular needle size US 10 (6 mm).
Rib Pat: K2, P2 Rib.
Stockinette st: Knit on RS rows purl on WS rows; in rnds, knit every rnd.
Jacquard Pat A and Yoke: Work in St st following Chart A. When changing colors, twist yarns on WS to prevent holes in work.
Jacquard Pat B: Work in St st following Chart B. When changing colors, twist yarns on WS to prevent holes in work.
Full-Fashioned Dec: at beg of row: k2, k2tog; at end of row: work to last 4 sts, SKP (= sl 1 knitwise, k1, pass sl st over k1), k2.
Gauge: St st with US 9 (5.5 mm) needles: 17 sts and 26 rows = approx 4 x 4"/10 x 10 cm.
Back: With fuchsia heather and US 8 (5 mm) needles, cast on 70 sts and work 1 WS row in Rib Pat. Change to dark gray heather cont in Rib Pat until piece measures 2 1/2"/6 cm from beg. Change to US 9 (5.5 mm) needles and cont in St st. For the side shaping, inc 1 st each side every 10th row 5 times = 80 sts. Work even until piece measures 11 1/2"/29 cm from beg. Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then work full-fashioned dec each side every 2nd row 5 times = 66 sts. When piece measures 12 1/2"/32 cm from beg, place sts on a holder.
Front: Work same as Back.
Sleeves: With US 8 (5 mm) needles and fuchsia heather, cast on 42 sts and work 1 WS row in Rib Pat. Cont in Rib Pat as foll: *2 rows dark gray heather, 2 rows fuchsia heather; rep from * once more, 2 rows fuchsia heather. Then cont in Rib Pat with dark gray heather until piece measures approx 4 3/4"/12 cm from beg, and inc 8 sts on last WS row = 50 sts. Change to US 9 (5.5 mm) needles cont in St st over all sts as foll: 4 rows dark gray heather, 7 rows Jacquard Pat B. Cont in St st with dark gray heather. At the same time, inc 1 st each side on the 11th row above rib, then every 14th row 5 times = 62 sts. Work even until piece measures 19"/48 cm from beg. Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows, work full-fashioned dec each side every 2nd row 5 times. When piece measures 20 1/2"/52 cm from beg, place rem 48 sts on a holder.
Yoke: With US 10 (6 mm) circular needle work sts from holder as foll: 48 sts Right Sleeve, 66 sts Front, 48 sts Left Sleeve, 66 sts Back = 228 sts. Join to work in rnds, and work the first rnd with dark gray heather and dec 1 st at each joining = 224 sts. Cont in Jacquard Pat A, working decs as shown. After rnd 48 there are 98 sts. For the stand-up collar, work in Rib Pat, and dec 6 sts on the 1st rnd = 92 sts. When collar measures 2 1/2"/6 cm, work 2 rnds with fuchsia heather, 2 rnds dark gray heather, 2 rnds fuchsia heather, 2 rnds dark gray heather, 2 rnds fuchsia heather, then bind off.
Finishing: Sew armhole, side and sleeve seams.
