This oversized cabled pullover knits up quicker than you think with super bulky yarns. The matching cowl defies wind and cold - either as a collar or hood.

Lana Grossa "Pashmina" (78% Merino Wool extrafine, 22% Cashmere, yardage = 125m/50 g) 950 g black (#8).
One long circular needle size US 7 (4.5 mm), crochet hook size G-6 (4 mm).
Pullover is worked in 3 pieces: Left piece, Right Front Piece and Right Back Piece. The arrows on schematic show direction of work.
Rev St st: Purl on RS rows, knit on WS rows.
Pattern Sequence: follow Chart A.
Cable Pat = Pat 3: follow Chart B.
Gauge: over all sts: 33.5 sts and 29 rows = 4 x 4"/10 x 10 cm.
Left Piece: Beg at lower Front edge, cast on 33 sts and work in pats as foll: K1 (selvage st), work the last 18 sts of pat 2 (Chart A), p4, 8 sts Pat 1 (Chart A), p1, k1 (selvage st). Cont in pats as established until piece measures 4"/10 cm from beg. Cast on at side edge (beg of RS rows) 1 st at beg of next RS row, then cont to cast on at same edge 2 sts once, 3 sts 30 times, 4 sts 10 times, 5 sts once and 6 sts twice = 183 sts.
Work the inc sts in pats as foll: the first 3 sts in Pat 2, 4 sts Rev St st, 8 sts Pat 1, 4 sts Rev St st, 24 sts Pat 3, 4 sts Rev St st, 8 sts Pat 1, 4 sts Rev St st, 21 sts Pat 2, 4 sts Rev St st, 8 sts Pat 1, 4 sts Rev St st, 24 sts Pat 3, 4 sts Rev St st, 8 sts Pat 1, 1 st Rev St st, 8 sts Pat 1, 1 st Rev St st, 8 sts Pat 1. Cont in pats as established until piece measures 22"/56 cm from beg = shoulder line. Work 2nd half of piece in reverse (working decs instead of incs).
Right Front Piece: Beg at lower sleeve edge, cast on 49 sts and work in pats as foll: K1 (selvage st), 1 st Rev St st, 8 sts Pat 1, 4 sts Rev St st, 21 sts Pat 2, 4 sts Rev St st, 8 sts Pat 1, p1, k1 (selvage st) (= chart A plus k1 (selvage st). For the sleeve shaping, at end of RS rows inc 1 st every 4th row 5 times, then every 2nd row 20 times, then at beg of WS rows, cast on 2 sts 30 times, 4 sts 3 times and 5 sts twice = 156 sts.
Work inc sts into pats as foll: 3 sts Rev St st, 24 sts Pat 3, 4 sts Rev St st, 8 sts Pat 1, 4 sts Rev St st, 8 sts Pat 1, 4 sts Rev St st, 21 sts Pat 2, 4 sts Rev St st, 8 sts Pat 1, 4 sts Rev St st, the last 15 sts in Pat 3. The at beg of next WS row, cast on 34 sts and work these sts in pats as foll: the first 9 sts in Pat 3, 4 sts Rev St st, 8 sts Pat 1, k5v St st, 8 sts Pat 1 = 190 sts. Work even in pats as established until piece measures 33"/84cm from beg. Bind off.
Right Back Piece: Work to correspond to right front piece, reversing shaping.
Finishing: Block pieces to measurements. Sew the right front piece and right back piece tog, leaving the last 12"/30 cm (over the center) open for neck. Sew the left and right pieces tog. Sew side and under sleeve seams. Along lower edge of sleeves and body, with RS facing and crochet hook, work 1 row crab st (= sc from left to right). With RS facing and crochet hook, work 1 row sl st around neck edge.
Cowl
Size: approx 30 x 15 3/4"/76 x 40 cm
Materials:
Lana Grossa "Bombolo" (30% Super Kid Mohair, 20% Merino Wool, 40% Acrylic, 10% Polyamide, yardage = 65m/50 g) 200 g black (#11).
Circular needle size US 17 (12 mm).
St st in rnds: Knit every rnd.
Note: Work with double strand throughout.
Gauge: approx 6.5 sts and 10 rows = 4 x 4"/10 x 10 cm.
Cowl: With circular needle, cast on 50 sts. Join, taking care not to twist sts on needle. Work in rnds in St st for approx 15 3/4"40 cm. Bind off sts. loosely.
