YOU WILL NEED

■ Rowan, Panama (12% linen, 33% cotton, 55% viscose; 50g/135m)

■ A 23/4mm circular needle, 40cm long

■ A 23/4mm circular needle, 80cm long

■ A 31/4mm circular needle, 40cm long

■ A 31/4mm circular needle, 80cm long

■ Stitch markers

TENSION

Yarn used knits as 4ply to this tension: 27 sts and 36 rows to measure 10x10cm (4x4in) over st st using 31/4mm needles

BODY

Cast on 244 (268:300:336:372) sts using the 23/4mm circular needle (80cm), and join to work in the round, taking care not to twist sts.

Now work in rounds as folls:

Round 1 (RS) *K2, P2, rep from * to end.

This round forms rib.

Cont in rib until work meas 8cm.

Change to 31/4mm circular needle (80cm).

Next round (RS) Knit.

This round forms st st.

Cont in st st for a further 3 rounds, ending 4 sts before end of last round.

SHAPE ARMHOLES

*Cast off 8 sts, K until there are 114 (126:142:160:178) sts after cast off, rep from * once more.

Break yarn and leave sts on a holder.

RIGHT SLEEVE

Cast on 116 (124:124:128:132) sts using 21/4mm circular needle (40cm), and join to work in the round, taking care not to twist sts.

Now work in rounds as folls:

Work in rib as given for back until sleeve meas 3cm, inc 2 (0:2:2: ) sts evenly across last round. [118 (124:126:130:134) sts]**

Change to 31/4mm circular needle (40cm). Work in st st for 4 rounds, ending 4 sts before end of last round. Next round will start here.

Break yarn and leave sts on a holder.

LEFT SLEEVE

Work as given for Right Sleeve to **. Change to 31/4mm circular needle (40cm).

Work in st st for 5 rounds, ending 4 sts before end of last round. Next round will start here.

*Cast off 8 sts, K to end. [110 (116:118:122:126) sts]

Do not break yarn.

YOKE

With RS facing and using 3%mm circular needle (80cm), slip the 110 (116:118:122:126) sts of left sleeve, place marker, K across one set of 114 (126:142:160:178) sts on holder from body (front), place marker, K across 110 (116:118:122:126) sts on holder from right sleeve, place marker, then K across rem 114 (126:142:160:178) sts on holder from body (back), place final marker. NECKBAND

With RS facing, using 23/4mm circular needle (40cm), pick up and knit 30 sts from top of left sleeve, 8 (8:9:9:10) sts down left side of neck, 25 sts from front, 8 (8:9:9:10) sts up right side of neck, 30 sts from top of right sleeve, then 36 (36:38:38:40) sts from back. [137 (137:141:141:145) sts]

Next round (RS) Purl.

Next round Knit.

These 2 rounds form garter st.

Work in garter st for a further 2 rounds. Cast off purlwise (on RS).

TO MAKE UP

Join cast off edges at underarm. Using the instructions on the ball band, block the garment to the dimensions given on the diagram.
