Poncho combined with the flower dress, this plain poncho looks as if it came straight from Peru! Leg warmers and tie boots lend a casual alpine touch.

Size: 36 - 40.

Materials: Lana Grossa "Yak Merino" (30% Merino wool, 28% alpaca, 20% yak, 22% polyamide, approx. 110 m/100 g): 500 g in Heathered Grey/Brown, col 09; size 5.5 and 6 mm Addi needles; size 5.5 mm circular needle, 40 cm/16" long, cable needle (cn).

Garter st: K2, p2

Rib pattern: K2, p2 

Pattern mix: Work according to charts as given in instructions. Work RS rows from right to left. On all WS rows not shown on charts, work sts as they appear or according to chart key. Bottom row on each chart shows last row of rib pat. Do not work this row again, it is shown for clarification only.

Cable patterns A + B: Work according to charts A and B. Work 15 pat sts once. Work rows 1 - 12 once, then rep rows 3 - 12 throughout.

Cable patterns C + D: Work according to charts C and D. Work 8 pat sts once. Work rows 1 - 6 once, then rep rows 3 - 6 throughout.

Lace patterns E + F: Work according to charts E and F. In WS rows, k all sts. Work 13 pat sts once. Work rows 1 - 18 once, then rep rows 3 - 18 throughout.

Lace pattern G: Work according to chart G. Work 44 pat sts once, working pat rep between arrows 3 times. Work rows 1 - 30 once, then rep rows 3 - 30 throughout.

Shaker rib pattern:

Row 1 (RS): Selvedge st, * yo, sl 1 as if to purl, p1; rep from * to last st, selvedge st.

Row 2 (WS): Selvedge st, * k1, ptog next st and yo; rep from * to last st, selvedge st. Repeat rows 1 + 2 throughout. 

Full-fashion decrease 1 for back: At beg of RS row, selvedge st, work 5 sts in shaker rib pat, p2tog; at end of RS row, work to last 8 sts, p2tog, work 5 sts in shaker rib pat, selvedge st - 1 st decreased at each edge.

Full-fashion decrease 2 for back: At beg of RS row, selvedge st, work 5 sts in shaker rib pat, p3tog; at end of RS row, work to last 9 sts, p3tog, work 5 sts in shaker rib pat, selvedge st - 2 sts decreased at each edge.

Full-fashion decrease 1 for front: At beg of RS row, selvedge st, p2tog; at end of RS row, work to last 3 sts, p2tog, selvedge st - 1 st decreased at each edge.

Full-fashion decrease 2 for front: At beg of RS row, selvedge st, p3tog; at end of RS row, work to last 4 sts, p3tog, selvedge st - 2 sts decreased at each edge.

Tension: 19 sts and 19 rows = 10 x 10 cm/4" x 4" in all cable patts on size 6 mm needles; 12 sts and 19 rows = 10 x 10 cm/4" x 4" in lace pat on size 6 mm needles.

Back: With size 5.5 mm needles, cast on 90 sts.

Next WS row: Selvedge st, k1, * p2, k2; rep from * to last 4 sts, p2, k1, selvedge st. Work in rib pat as established until back measures 7 cm/2 3/4" = 15 rows from cast-on. Change to size 6 mm needles and position sts as foll: Selvedge st, work 15 sts in cable pat A, 8 sts in cable pat C, 13 sts in lace pat E, 44 sts in cable pat G, 13 sts in lace pat F, 8 sts in cable pat D, 15 sts in cable pat B, selvedge st = 118 sts after row 1 in pattern mix.

Work in pat as established until back measures 44 cm/17 1/4" = 84 rows from rib pat, then work raglan shaping as foll: Working full-fashion dec 1, dec 1 st at beg and end of next 20 RS rows, then working full-fashion dec 2, dec 2 sts at beg and end of next 4 RS rows = 62 sts. Note that beg with raglan shaping, first and last 5 sts are now worked in shaker rib pat. When back measures 25 cm/10" = 48 rows from beg of raglan shaping, sl remaining 62 sts to holder.

Front: With size 5.5 mm needles, cast on 64 sts. 

Next WS row: Selvedge st, * k2, p2, rep from * to last 3 sts, k2, selvedge st. Work in rib pat as established until front measures 7 cm/2 3/4" = 15 rows from cast-on. Change to size 6 mm needles and position sts as foll: Selvedge st, work 8 sts in cable pat C, 13 sts in lace pat E, 44 sts in cable pat G, 13 sts in lace pat F, 8 sts in cable pat D, selvedge st = 88 sts after row 1 in pattern mix. Work in pat as established until front measures 8 cm/3 1/4" = 16 rows from rib pat. Cast on 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows for edgings for arm openings = 98 sts. Work newly cast-on sts in garter st.

Cont in pat until front measures 44 cm/17 1/4" = 84 cm from rib pat. Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows and at same time, work raglan shaping as foll: Working full-fashion dec 1, dec 1 st at beg and end of next 20 RS rows, then working full-fashion dec 2, dec 2 sts at beg and end of next 4 RS rows = 32 sts. At same time, when front measures 20 cm/8" = 38 rows from beg of raglan shaping, shape neck: Bind off center 12 sts. Working each side separately, bind off 5 sts at each neck edge once, 3 sts once and 2 sts once. No sts remain. 

Finishing: Pin pieces to measurements and block with damp towels. Sew raglan seams. Sl 62 back neck sts from holder to circular needle, then pick up and k 46 sts around front neck edge = 108 sts. Join for working in rnds and work rib pat in rnds for 32 cm/12 3/4". Bind off all sts. Sew side seams 15 cm/6" up from lower edge. Fold edgings at arm openings to wrong side and sew in place.
