Materials: Junghans "Merino Supersoft" (100% pure wool, approx. 185 m/50 g): 50 g each in Natural, col 106-794, Mustard, col 106-801, Bordeaux, col 106-787, and Black, col 106-800; one set of size 3 mm Addi double-pointed needles (dpns).

Rib pattern: K1, p1.

Stockinette in rnds: K every rnd.

THESE COSY armwarmers, which extend almost to the elbow and include thumbs, have little Fair Isle motifs and beads for a subtle touch of colour. “The rich colours of the yarn and the beads made me think of the Silk Road and the carpets of Samarkand,” says designer Barb Brown.

THESE ELEGANT wristwarmers by Tanis Gray are decorated with two lace ‘cuffs’, which overlap to provide warmth and beauty. The cuffs are knitted separately, then sewn onto simple garter stitch tubes which have thumbholes. “It’s easier to put them together by wearing the mitts while sewing the cuffs on,” Tanis suggests. She has used the wonderfully soft and light Lustrous Extrafine Merino DK yarn from Sublime, which is a merino wool spun with delicate, lustrous metallic threads.
