3 1/4mm (no 10) (US 3) circular needle

TENSION

15 sts and 31 rows to 10cm measured over pact using 4mm (US 6) needles.

RIGHT FRONT and BACK (worked sideways, beg at front opening edge)

Using 4mm (US 6) needles cast on 122 [126: 128: 132: 134] sts.

Work in patt as folls:

Row 1 (RS): K3, P1, K3, (P1, K1) twice, *yfwd, sl 1, K1, psso, rep from * to last 11 sts, (K1, P1) twice, K3, P1, K3.

Row 2: K2, P1, K1, P3, (K1, P1) twice, *yfwd, sl 1, K1, psso, rep from * to last 11 sts, (P1, K1) twice, P3, K1, P1, K2.

Row 3: K3, P1, sl 1, K2, lift slipped st over last 2 (k) sts and off right needle, (P1, K1) twice, *yfwd, sl 1, K1, psso, rep from * to last 11 sts, (K1, P1) twice, sl 1, K2, lift slipped st over last 2 (k) sts and off right needle, P1, K3.

Row 4: K2, P1, K1, P1, yrn, P1, (K1, P1) twice, *yfwd, sl 1, K1, psso, rep from * to last 11 sts, (P1, K1) twice, P1, yrn, P1, K1, P1, K2. These 4 rows form patt.

Cont in patt until right front meas 55 [60: 66: 72: 79] cm, ending with RS facing for next row.

Shape armhole

Next row (RS): Patt 25 sts, cast off next 35 [37: 39: 41: 43} sts, patt to end.

Next row: Patt 62 [64: 64: 66: 66] sts, turn and cast on 35 [37: 39: 41: 43] sts, turn and patt rem 25 sts.

Cont in patt until right back section meas 22 [25: 28: 31: 34] cm from armhole, ending with RS facing for next row.

Break yarn and leave sts on a holder.

LEFT FRONT and BACK (worked sideways, beg at front opening edge)

Work as given for right front and back to beg of armhole opening, ending with RS facing for next row.

Shape armhole

Next row (RS): Patt 62 [64: 64: 66: 66] sts, cast off next 35 [37: 39: 41: 43] sts, patt to end.

Next row: Patt 25 sts, turn and cast on 35 [37: 39: 41: 43] sts, turn and patt rem 62 [64: 64: 66: 66] sts.

Cont in patt until left back section meas 22 [25: 28: 31: 34] cm from armhole, ending with RS facing for next row.

Slip sts of right front and back onto a spare needle and now join left and right back sections as folls: Holding sections with RS together, cast off both sets of sts together by taking one st from first section with corresponding st of other section.

MAKING UP

Armhole borders (both alike)

With RS facing and using 3!4mm (US 3) circular needle, pick up and knit 96 [102: 108: 112: 118] sts evenly all round armhole edge.

Round 1 (RS): *K1, P1, rep from * to end.

Rep this round 4 times more.

Cast off in rib.
