Materials

6 (7) (7) 100g (240m) balls of Stylecraft Alpaca DK (80% acrylic, 20% alpaca) in Mistral (6013).

Pair of 5mm (No.6) knitting needles and one 8mm (No.0) knitting needle.

Tension

19 stitches and 20 rows, to 10 x 10cm, over pattern, using 5mm and 8mm needles.

Note: Yarn amounts are based on average requirements and are therefore approximate. Instructions are given for small size. Where they vary, work figures in round brackets for larger sizes. Instructions in square brackets are worked as stated after 2nd bracket.

Main part Right front: With 5mm needles, cast on loosely 110 (115) (120) sts. K 6 rows.

1st row: With 8mm needles, [k1 winding yarn twice round needle] to end. Change to 5mm needles.

2nd row: * Sl 5 sts pwise, dropping extra loop on each st, return these 5 sts to left hand needle and work p1, yrn, p1, yrn, p1 into the 5 sts together **, yrn , repeat from * to last 5 sts, work from * to ** - 131 (137) (143) sts.

3rd row: K5, [k2tog, k4] to end - 110 (115) (120) sts.

4th to 8th rows: K to end. These 8 rows form pattern. Pattern another 82 (90) (98) rows. Mark end of last row for shoulder. Pattern another 26 rows.

Shape armhole: Cast off loosely 40 (43) (45) sts at beginning of next row - 70 (72) (75) sts.

Back:

Next row: K to end, turn and cast on loosely 40 (43) (45) sts - 110 (115) (120) sts. Pattern another 26 rows. Mark end of last row for shoulder. Pattern another 34 (42) (50) rows. Mark end of last row for shoulder. Pattern another 26 rows. 

Shape armhole: Cast off loosely 40 (43) (45) sts at beginning of next row - 70 (72) (75) sts.

Left front: 

Next row: K to end, turn and cast on loosely 40 (43) (45) sts - 110 (115) (120) sts. Pattern another 26 rows. Mark end of last row for shoulder. Pattern another 96 (104) (112) rows. Cast off loosely.

Sleeves (both alike)

With 5mm needles, cast on 50 (55) (60) sts. K 6 rows. Work 11 rows in pattern as given on right front of main part. Working extra sts into pattern as they occur, inc 1 st at each end of next row and 12 following 4th rows - 76 (81) (86) sts. Pattern 1 row. Inc 1 st at each end of next row and following alternate row - 80 (85) (90) sts. Pattern another 14 rows. Cast off loosely.

To make up

Join shoulder seams. Sew in sleeves, then join sleeve seams.
