TENSION

22 sts and 28 rows to 10cm over st st using 4mm needles.

21 sts and 40 rows to 10cm over garter st using 4mm needles.

Use larger or smaller needles if necessary to obtain correct tension.

TOP TIPS

You can lengthen or shorten your garment before reaching the armhole by working more or fewer rows but ensure you end on a Row 24. Bear in mind that lengthening your garment will require more yarn.

Row 1 (RS): K6, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, k2tog, k5.

Row 2 and alt rows (WS): Knit.

Row 3: K5, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, k2tog, k4.

Row 5: K4, k2tog, yo, k5, yo, k2tog, k3.

Row 7: K3, k2tog, yo, k7, yo, k2tog, k2.

Row 9: K2, k2tog, yo, k9, yo, k2tog, k1.

Row 11: K1, k2tog, yo, k11, yo, k2tog.

BACK

Cast on 100[116:132]sts. Knit 8 rows in g-st ending on WS row.

Next row (RS): K2, work Row 1 of Lozenge Patt to last 2 sts, k2.

Row 2 (WS): K2, work Row 2 of Lozenge Patt to last 2 sts, k2.

These 2 rows set position of Lozenge Patt with garter st edging. Cont in Lozenge Patt as set until Back meas approx 52cm (20.5in), ending on Row 24 of patt.

Shape armhole

Keeping patt correct cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows. 96[112:128] sts.

Dec 1 st at each end of next row. 94[110:126]sts. Dec 1 st at each end of every alt row to 84(100:116] sts.

Cont straight until armhole meas approx 18cm (7in) ending on Row 14 of patt. Knit 8 rows in g-st. (If you need a longer armhole, work a few more rows in g-st). Cast off.

FRONT

Work as for Back.

SLEEVES

Cast on 60[68:74] sts. Work in g-st for 8 rows ending on a WS row.

Next row (RS): K22[26:29], work Row 1 of Lozenge Patt for Sleeve to last 22[26:29] sts, k22[26:29].

Cont in patt until Sleeve meas approx 42cm (16.5in) ending on Row 24 of patt.

Shape top

Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows. 56[64:70] sts.

Dec 1 st at each end of every row to 52(56:56] sts. Dec 1 st at each end of every alt row to 12(16:22] sts. Dec 1 st at each end of every row to 8 sts ending on a RS row. Cast off on WS.

TO FINISH OFF

Measure 9[11:12]cm (3.5[4.5:5]in) along each shoulder of Front and Back and pin together. Sew to where pins end.

Pin and sew Sleeve heads in place along armhole. Join side and Sleeve seams.
