TENSION
22 sts and 30 rows to 10cm over rev st st using 4mm needles.
24 sts and 30 rows to 10cm over cable patt using 4mm needles.
Use larger or smaller needles if necessary to obtain correct tension.
BACK
With 3.25mm circular needle cast on 123[129:136:143:149:156:162:169] sts. Work backwards and forwards as if on straight needles. Knit 5 rows. Change to 4mm circular needle.

FRONT

Shape neck
Next row: Patt 30[32:33:34:35:37:38:39] sts, turn and cont on these sts only, leave rem sts on a holder.

Shape shoulder
Cast off 7[7:8:8:8:9:9:10] sts at beg of next and foll WS row. Work 1 row. Cast off rem 6[7:7:8:9:9:10:9] sts.
SLEEVES
With 3.25mm needles cast on 44[48:52:56:60:64:68:72] sts. Knit 7 rows. Change to 4mm needles. Beg with a p row cont in rev st st. Work 15 rows.
Next row (inc): K3, m1, k to last 3 sts, m1, k3.
Work 11 rows. Rep last 12 rows 6 times more and inc row again. 60[64:68:72:76:80:84:88] sts. Cont straight until Sleeve meas 46cm (18in) from cast on edge, ending with a k row.
Shape sleeve top
Cast off 7[7:7:8:8:8:9:9] sts at beg of next 2 rows. 46[50:54:56:60:64:66:70] sts.
Next row: Purl. Next row: K2, skpo, k to last 4 sts, k2tog, k2. Rep last 2 rows 5[6:7:7:8:9:9:10] times more. 34[36:38:40:42:44:46:48] sts. Work 3 rows.
Next row: K2, skpo, k to last 4 sts, k2tog, k2. Rep last 4 rows 4 times more. 24[26:28:30:32:34:36:38] sts.
Next row: Purl. Next row: K2, skpo, k to last 4 sts, k2tog, k2. Rep last 2 rows once more. 20[22:24:26:28:30:32:34] sts.
Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 4 rows. 12[14:16:18:20:22:24:26] sts. Cast off.
NECK EDGING
Join right shoulder seam. With 3.25mm needles pick up and k22[25:25:27:27:30:30:32] sts down left side of Front neck, dec 1 st over each cable, k Front neck sts, pick up and k22[25:25:27:27:30:30:32] sts up right side of Front neck, dec 1 st over each cable, knit Back neck sts. Knit 4 rows. Cast off.
TO FINISH OFF
Join left shoulder seam and neckband. Join side and Sleeve seams. Sew Sleeves into armholes, easing to fit.
Cable scarf

TENSION
18 sts and 24 rows to 10cm over st st using 5mm needles. Use larger or smaller needles if necessary to obtain correct tension.
TIPS
You may wish to cut the yarn for the tassels before casting on to knit the scarf. This will ensure you don't run out of yarn!
SCARF
With 5mm needles, cast on 40 sts. Knit 4 rows garter st.
Next row (WS): K3, *k4 (p1, inc in next st) x 3, rep from * twice more, k7.49 sts.
Work in patt from written instructions below or from Cable Chart as folls:
Row 1 (RS): K3 (p4, T3F, T3B, T3F) x 3, p4, k3.
Row 2: K3 (k4, p2, k2, p4, k1) x 3, k7.
Row 3: K3 (p5, C4B, p2, k2) x 3, p4, k3.
Row 4: As Row 2.
Row 5: K3 (p4, T3B, T3F, T3B) x 3, p4, k3.
Row 6: K3 (k5, p4, k2, p2) x 3, k7.
Row 7: K3 (p4, k2, p2, C4F, p1) x 3, p4, k3.
Row 8: As Row 6.
Rep these 8 rows until work meas approx 189cm (74.5in) from cast-on edge, ending on a RS row, leaving enough yarn for tassels (9g used on sample).
Next row (WS): K3 (k5, p2tog twice, k2, p2tog) x 3, k7. 40 sts.
Knit 4 rows garter st. Cast off.
Cut 36 x 30cm (11.75in) lengths of yarn. Using 2 strands for each tassel, place 9 tassels at each end of scarf.
TO FINISH OFF
Darn in loose ends.
