TENSION

14 sts and 20 rows to 10cm over st st on 6mm needles.

Cable Panel of 28 sts measures approx. 15cm.

CABLE PATTERN

(worked over 28 sts)

Row 1 (RS): P2, K2, P8, K4, P8, K2, P2.

Row 2 and every foll WS row: Work all sts as they appear.

Row 3: P2, K2, P8, C4B, P8, K2, P2.

Row 5: P2, K2, P8, C4B, P8, K2, P2.

Row 7: P2, T3F, P6, T3B, T3F, P6, T3B, P2.

Row 9: P3, T3F, P4, T3B, P2, T3F, P4, T3B, P3.

Row 11: P4, T3F, P2, T3B, P4, T3F, P2, T3B, P4.

Row 13: P5, T3F, T3B, P6, T3F, T3B, P5.

BACK

Using 6mm knitting needles cast on 85 (91:97) sts.

Work in 1x1 rib to 4cm, ending with a WS row, dec 1 st in centre of last row. 84(90:96) sts.

Place cable pattern as follows:

Row 1 (RS): P2, work 28 sts across row 1 of cable pattern, K24 (30:36) sts, work 28 sts across row 1 of cable pattern, P2.

Row 2: K2, work 28 sts across row 2 of cable pattern, P24 (30:36), work 28 sts across row 2 of cable pattern, K2.

Last 2 rows set cable pattern, reverse st st and st st.

Keeping patt correct, commencing with 3rd row of cable patt cont without shaping until Back measures 35cm, ending with a WS row.

Place markers at beg and end of last row. 

Next row (RS): Patt to end, cast on 14 sts. 98 (104:110) sts.

Next row: K14, patt to end cast on 14 sts. 112 (118:124) sts. 

Work 14 cast-on sts in garter st throughout and remaining sts in patt as set. Cont without shaping until Back measures 25cm from markers, ending with a WS row.

SHAPE SHOULDER

Dec 1 st at each end of foll 42 (45:48) rows. 28 sts. Cast off. 

RIGHT FRONT

Using 6mm knitting needles cast on 29 (31:35) sts.

Work in 1x1 rib to 4cm, ending with a WS row, dec 1 (0:1) st in centre of last row. 28 (31:34) sts.

Place cable pattern as follows:

Row 1 (RS): P0 (1:3), work 28 sts across row 1 of cable pattern, P0 (2:3).

Row 2: K0 (2:3), work 28 sts across row 2 of cable pattern, K0 (1:3).

Keeping patt correct, cont without shaping until Right Front measures 35cm, ending with a WS row.

Place marker at end of last row.

Next row (RS): Patt to end, cast on 14 sts. 42 (45:48) sts.

Next row: K14, patt to end.

Keeping 14 cast-on sts in garter st throughout and remaining sts in patt as set, cont without shaping until Right Front measures 25cm from marker, ending with a RS row.

SHAPE SHOULDER

Work 41 (44:47) rows dec 1 st at armhole edge in every row. 1 st. Fasten off.

LEFT FRONT

Using 6mm knitting needles cast on 29 (31:35) sts.

Work in 1x1 rib to 4cm, ending with a WS row, dec 1 (0:1) st in centre of last row. 28 (31:34) sts.

Place cable pattern as follows:

Row 1 (RS): P0 (2:3), work 28 sts across row 1 of cable pattern, P0 (1:3).

Row 2: K0 (1:3), work 28 sts across row 2 of cable pattern, K0 (2:3).

Keeping patt correct, cont without shaping until Left Front measures 35cm, ending with a RS row. (1 row less then Right Front.)

Place marker at beg of last row.

Next row (WS): Patt to end, cast on 14 sts. 42 (45:48) sts.

Next row: K14, patt to end. Complete Left Front to match Right Front, reversing shapings.

MAKING UP

Join side, sleeve and shoulder seams.

FRONT BAND

With RS facing, using 6mm circular needles, pick up and knit 100 sts up right front edge, pick up and knit 28 sts from 28 cast-off sts at back neck, knit up and knit 100 sts down left front edge. 228 sts.

Work in garter st throughout until Front band measures 10cm. Cast off loosely.

Block gently, following any yarn care instructions on the ball band.
