TENSION
Work 13.5tr and 8 rows to measure 10 x 10cm/4 x 4in using 4mm hook, or size required to obtain tension.
MEASUREMENTS
One size: This dress is intended to fit UK size 8-16 with varying degrees of positive ease.
Bust: 185cm/73in.
Length: 72.5cm/28 3/4in.
Length to underarm: 62.5cm/24 3/4in.
Sleeve circumference: 26cm/10in.
Sleeve length: 10cm/4in.
Note: Dress may hang slightly longer than measurements when worn due to the weight of yarn.
FRONT/BACK
Make two
With 4mm hook, work 126ch.
Note: Only use 2ch as the t-ch (rather than the usual 3ch for tr crochet) in the main treble section to prevent holes in the side seam when joining the panels.
Foundation Row: 1tr in second ch from hook and in each ch to end, turn - 125 sts.
Rows 1-57: 2ch (does not count as st throughout), 125tr, turn.
Row 58: (Neckline) 3ch, 49tr. Fasten off.
Rejoin yarn with sl st at beginning of row 57, 3ch, 49tr. Fasten off.
MAKING UP
Lay the front piece on top of the back piece. With yarn needle and a length of the yarn, sew up side seams, leaving top eight rows open for the sleeves, and bottom 16 rows open for side-slits.
Sew front and back together along the top for the shoulders, working inwards from the top corners up to the neckline.
SLEEVES
Rnd 1: Join yarn with a si st at any point around the armhole, 3ch (counts as 1tr), work 35tr evenly around the armhole, join with sl st in first st - 36 sts.
Rnds 2-8: 3ch, 1tr in each st around, join with sl st in first st.Fasten off. Repeat for second sleeve.
NECKBAND
Rejoin yarn with a sl st at any point along the neckline. Work 1ch (counts as 1dc), 54dc evenly around the neckline, join with sl st in first st. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends and block to measurements.
