Is it jacket or a wrap? This basic rectangle with sleeves gives the loose comfortable fit of a wrap with the stylish good looks of a jacket. It's a great fit for any woman.

Size 1/9/5.5mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

Size 19/15mm 16-inch circular knitting needle

PATTERN NOTES

Main Body of Wrap is constructed in 1 rectangular piece incorporating Armholes. Sleeves are created separately and set into main Body. The broomstick lace edging on both main Body of Wrap and Sleeves are worked onto each piece at end prior to finishing.

Chain-1 at beginning of row counts as first single crochet unless otherwise stated.

Chain-3 at beginning of row counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.

Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

WRAP

Front Edge

Row 1: Ch 77 [81, 85, 89, 93], sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (76 [80, 84, 88, 92] sc)

Row 2: Working in front lps (see Stitch Guide), ch 1 (see Pattern Notes), sk first st, sc in each st across, turn.

Row 3: Working in back lps (see Stitch Guide), ch 1, sk first st, sc in each st across, turn.

Row 4: Rep row 2.

Body

Row 5 (RS): Ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), (3 dc, ch 2, sl st) in next sc, [sk next 3 sc, (4 dc, ch 2, sl st) in next sc] across for pattern to last sc, dc in last sc, turn.

Row 6 (WS): Rep row 5.

Next rows: Rep row 5 until piece measures 151/2 [16, 161/2, 17, 18] inches from beg, ending on a RS row.

First Armhole

Row 1 (WS): Work in pattern across first 3 reps, ch 20 [24, 28, 32, 36], sk the next 6 ch-2 sps (armhole), continue pattern in next ch-2 sp, complete to end of row.

Row 2: Work in pattern across to ch-2 sp before Armhole opening, work 1 pattern, rep in first ch, *sk next 3 chs, work pattern in next ch, rep from * across ch (5 [6, 7, 8, 9] pattern reps), ending with sk last 3 chs, continue in pattern across rem of row.

Back

Next rows: Continue in established pattern until 321/2 [35, 371/2, 40, 43] inches from beg, ending on RS row.

2nd Armhole

Work same as First Armhole.

Continue Body

Continue in pattern until piece measures 461/2 [491/2, 521/2, 551/2, 591/2] inches from beg.

Front Edge

Row 1 (WS): Ch 1, [sc in each of next 3 dc, sk next dc, ch 1] across, ending sc in each of last 3 dc, turn. (76 [80, 84, 88, 92] sts)

Row 2 (RS): Ch 1, sc in back lp of each of next 2 sc, sc in next ch, [sc in back lp of each of next 3 sc, sc in next ch] across, ending with sc in last st.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in front lp of each st across, turn

Row 4: Ch 1, sc in back lp of each st across.

Do not turn or fasten off.

Turn work so that top of Wrap is now your working area.

Top Lace Edging

Set-up row: Work 2 sc in corner, evenly sp 4 in end of rows across Front Edge, evenly sp 180 [184, 188, 192, 196] sc across top edge, evenly sp 4 sc in ends of rows across rem Front Edge, 2 sc in corner, turn.

Next row: Working in front lps, ch 1, sc in each st across, do not turn. You will have WS of work facing.

 

 

Broomstick Lace

Row 1: Widen lp on the crochet hook and insert knitting needle in lp with yarn held in back of needle, [insert hook in next st, yo, pull up through st and place lp on knitting needle (see Aon illustration)] across row. (192 [ 196, 200, 204, 208] lps on knitting needle)

Row 2: Insert hook in first 4 lps and remove from knitting needle (see B on illustration), yo, pull through all lps on hook, ch 1 to close, ch 3, 3 dc in same lp set, *yo, insert hook in next 4 lps and remove from knitting needle, yo, pull through lps taken off needle, yo and pull through 2 lps, yo, pull through last 2 lps on hook (first dc), 3 dc in same lp set, rep from * across, working off 4 lps from knitting needle each time with 4 dc in each lp set, do not turn.

Next rows: [Rep rows 1 and 2] twice. At end of last row, turn.

Last row: Ch 1, [sc in each of next 3 dc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next dc] across, ending with sc in each of last 3 dc. Fasten off.

Bottom Lace Edging

First rows: With RS facing, join (see Pattern Notes) in right-hand corner, work same as for Top Lace Edging, completing set-up row and next row of sc, ending with WS facing. Do not turn.

Next row (RS): Working in front lps, ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Next row (WS): Working in back lps, ch 1, sc in each st across.

Last row: Working in front lps, ch 1, sc in each st across. Fasten off.

Sleeve

Make 2.

Set-up row: Ch 33 [33, 37, 37, 37], sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, turn.

Next row: Ch 3, (3 dc, ch 2, sl st) in next sc, [sk next 3 sc, (4 dc, ch 2, sl st) in next sc] across, ending with pattern rep in next to last sc, dc in last sc, turn.

Next rows: Work in pattern until piece measures 6 [6, 61/2, 61/2, 7] inches from beg.

Inc row: Work 4 [4, 5, 5, 5] pattern reps, (2 dc, 2 sc, sl st) in sp between next 2 pattern reps (1/2 pattern in:), work last 4 [4, 5, 5, 5] pattern reps, turn.

Next row: Work pattern in each ch-2 sp across, turn. (9 [9, 10, 10, 10] pattern reps)

Next rows: Work in pattern until piece measures 11 [11, 111/2, 111/2, 12] inches from beg.

Sleeve Cap Shaping

Row 1: Sl st in first ch-2 sp, sl st in each of next 3 dc, dc in next st, work pattern in next ch-2 sp, work pattern in each of next 8 [8, 9, 9, 9] ch-2 sps, ending with dc in 4th dc from hook, turn. (1 pattern rep dec at each edge)

Row 2: Sl st in first ch-2 sp, sl st in each of next 3 dc, dc in next st, work pattern in each of next 5 [5, 6, 6, 6] ch-2 sps, ending in dc in 4th dc from hook, turn. (1 pattern rep dec at each edge)

Next rows: Rep row 2 until 3 pattern reps are rem.

Last row: [Sl st in next ch-2 sp, sl st in each of next 3 dc] across. Fasten off.

Sleeve Edging

Set-up row: With WS facing, join at bottom right-hand corner, evenly sp 32 [32, 36, 36, 36] sc across edge.

Next rows: Work 2 rows of Broomstick Lace as for Body. At end of last row, turn.

Last row: Ch 1, [sc in each of next 3 dc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next dc] across, ending with sc in each of last 3 dc. Fasten off.

Finishing

Block Wrap pieces to specified measurements on schematic.

Fold 1 Sleeve in half lengthwise, place fold at shoulder. Sew Sleeve in place.

Rep with rem Sleeve.
