Gold Rush Silk Scarf



This rich, vibrant gold button-up scarf is made from pure india silk yarn but just one skein makes it doable, and the result is a luxurious, one-of-a-kind piece.

FINISHED SIZE: One size fits most

MATERIALS: Himalaya Yarn Duke Silk light (light worsted) weight silk yarn (31/2 oz/225 yds/100g per hank): 1 hank #Sl-006 gold

Size G/6/4mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

Sewing needle

Matching sewing thread

3/4-inch buttons: 3

GAUGE: 4 sts = 1 inch; 3 pattern rows = 3 inches

PATTERN NOTE

Chain-1 and single crochet at beginning of row counts as first treble crochet unless otherwise stated.

SPECIAL STITCHES

First foundation half double crochet (first foundation hdc): Ch 2, yo, insert hook into 2nd ch from hook, yo, pull up lp, yo, pull through 1 lp on hook (ch-1 completed), yo, pull through all lps on hook (hdc completed).

 

 

Next foundation half double crochet (next foundation hdc): [Yo, insert hook in ch-1 made, yo, pull up lp, yo, pull through 1 lp on hook (ch-1), yo, pull through all lps on hook (hdc)] as indicated in instructions.

 

 

PATTERN

Row 1: Ch 1, 5 tr in first st, *[trin next st, sk next st] 8 times, tr in next st**, 5 tr in each of next 2 sts, rep from * across, ending last rep at**, 5 tr in next st, turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in first st, fpsc (see Stitch Guide) around next st and each st across, turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, 5 dc in first st, *[dc in next st, sk next st] 8 times, dc in next st**, 5 dc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * across, ending last rep at**, 5 dc in last st, turn.

Row 4: Rep row 2.

Row 5: Ch 1, dtr (see Stitch Guide) in first st and in each st across, turn.

Row 6: Rep row 2. Rep rows 1-6 for Pattern.

NECK WARMER

Row 1: First foundation hdc (see Special Stitches), 94 next foundation hdc (see Special Stitches), turn. (95 foundation hdc)

Row 2: Ch 1, sc (see Pattern Note) in first st, fpsc (see Stitch Guide) around next st and each st across, turn.

Rows 3-14: Work Pattern twice.

Rows 15-17: Work rows 1-3 of Pattern. At end of last row, fasten off.

Edging

Working in ends of rows, sc in end of each sc row, 2 sc in end of each hdc, 3 sc in end of each dc row, 4 sc in end of each tr row and 5 sc in end of each dtr row across end. Fasten off.

Rep Edging on other end.

Finishing

Block gently just enough to open up patterns. Allow to dry completely. Sew on buttons evenly sp as shown in photo. Use ends of rows for buttonholes.
