Size G/6/4mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

Tapestry needle

GAUGE 9 dc = 2 inches; 5 dc rows = 2 inches


Weave in ends as work progresses.

Chain-3 at beginning of row or round counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.

Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

Follow the odd rows of chart left to right and the even rows right to left.

For the first block of a row, work a beginning block.


Beginning block (beg block): Ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), dc in each of 2 indicated sts.

Block: Dc in each of next 2 indicated sts

Mesh: Ch 1, sk next st, dc in next st.


Row 1: Ch 113 [117, 121], dc in 3rd ch from hook (3 sk chs count as first dc) and in each ch across, turn. (55 [57, 59] blocks)

Row 2: Beg block (see Special Stitches), block (see Special Stitches) 54 [56, 58] times, turn.

Row 3: Beg block, 2 blocks, 49 [51, 53] mesh (see Special Stitches), 3 blocks, turn. (6 [6, 6] blocks, 49 [51,53] mesh)

Note: Using Special Stitches, work the following rows following Chart.

Rows 4-29 [4-33, 4-39]: Follow chart. At the end of last row, do not fasten off.



Fold in half lengthwise with RS on inside, ch 1, working through last row and foundation ch, sc in each of next 7 dc, fasten off. Rep on other side.


Rnd 1: With WS facing, join (see Pattern Notes) yarn to any st of row 29 [33, 39], ch 3, dc in each st around to seam, dc in same st as last sc from seam made, working in rem lps of foundation ch, dc in each foundation ch around to next seam, dc in same st as last sc from seam made, dc in each rem st of row 29 [33, 39], join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3, fasten off.
