To make

With 4.00 hook, make 38ch.

Foundation row (right side): 1 dc in 2nd ch from hook (counts as 1 st), [miss next 2 ch, 5 tr in next ch, miss next 2ch, 1 dc in next ch] 6 times, turn - 37 sts.

1st row: 3 ch (counts as 1 tr), 2 tr in first dc, miss next 2 tr, 1 dc in next tr, [miss next 2 tr, 5tr in next dc, miss next 2 tr, 1 dc in next tr] 5 times, miss next 2 tr, 3 tr in last dc, turn.

2nd row: 1 ch (does not count as a st), 1 dc in first tr, miss next 2 tr, 5 tr in next dc, [miss next 2 tr, 1 dc in next tr, miss next 2 tr, 5 tr in next dc] 5 times, miss next 2 tr, 1 dc in 3rd of 3 ch, turn.

The 1 st and 2 nd rows form the pattern. Continue in pattern until work measures 30cm from beginning.

Mark each end of last row.

Continue in pattern until work measures 11 cm from markers. Fasten off.

To make up

With wrong side facing, lay crochet piece flat with the last row at top edge. Bring lower edge up to markers and join row-ends together for side seams, leaving remainder free for flap. Fold flap over. Sew button to centre front below flap. With wrong side facing, join yarn to centre of flap and with 4.00 hook, make a chain loop long enough to fit around button. Fasten off and neaten ends.
