Materials: Lana Grossa "Lei" (100% pure wool, approx. 40 m/50 g): 100 g in Eggplant, col 53; size 10 mm Addi crochet hook; black leather cord 3 mm/1/8", 50 m/55 yds/roll; gold link chain, 85 cm/34" long, 2 cm/3/4" wide [by RICO Design].

Crocheted pattern: Work back and forth in rows according to chart. Beg each row with ch 2 (count as 1 sc) or ch 3 (count as 1 dc). Beg chart pat with sts before first arrow, work sts between arrows for pat repeat, end with sts after 2nd arrow. Repeat rows 1 - 4 throughout.

Instructions: Ch 56, 1 dc in 5th ch from hook. Work according to chart for 11 rows, working pat rep between arrows 8 times. Cut yarn and fasten off.

Side pieces [make 2]: Ch 9, 1 dc in 5th ch from hook and 1 dc in each ch across. Rows 2 - 8: Ch 3 (count as 1 dc), dc5tog in each dc across. Cut yarn and fasten off. 

Finishing: Pin pieces to measurements and block with damp towels. Work 1 row of sc around entire edge of bag and at same time, join side pieces to bag. Fold bag in half, baste one long side edge of first side piece to bag. Using leather cord, join basted edge of side piece to bag with sc, then work sc along short bottom edge of side piece, then join 2nd long edge of side piece to bag - to tighten short top edge of side piece, work 1 sc in last st only. Next, work sc along edges of bag flap, then join 2nd side piece to bag same as first. Sew chain to inside of bag flap.
