GETTING STARTED

As this design is given in 11 sizes, we suggest that you underline all the figures for the size you require before commencing.

WORKING PATTERN

BACK

** Using 2.75mm needles, cast on 91 (97, 105, 111, 119, 125, 133, 139, 147, 153, 161) sts.

Row 1: K1, *P1, K1, rept from * to end.

Row 2: P1, *K1, P1, rept from * to end.

Rept the last 2 rows for 5 (5, 5, 6.5, 6.5, 6.5, 6.5, 7.5, 7.5, 7.5, 7.5) cm finishing on a 2nd row. inc 1 st at end of last row. 92 (98, 106, 112, 120, 126, 134, 140, 148, 154, 162) sts.

Change to 3.25mm needles and st st (1 row knit, 1 row purl) until work measures 23 (25.5, 29, 31.5, 34.5, 37, 39.5, 40.5, 42, 43, 44.5) cm from commencement finishing on a P row.

Shape Armholes

Cast off 7 sts at beg of next 2 rows 78 (84, 92, 98, 106, 112, 120, 126, 134, 140, 148) sts. **

Dec 1 st at each end of the needle on every row until 64 (70, 78, 88, 94, 102, 108, 112, 116, 120, 122) sts remain.

Continue without further shaping until armholes measure 14 (15, 16.5, 19, 20.5, 21.5, 24, 25.5, 26.5, 26.5, 26.5) cm, finishing on a P row.

Shape Shoulders

Cast off 6 (7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 16, 17, 17) sts at beg of next 2 rows, then 7 (8, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, 16, 17, 17, 18) sts at beg of following 2 rows.

Sl remaining 38 (40, 42, 44, 44, 46, 46, 48, 50, 52, 52) sts onto a st holder. Break off yarn.

FRONT

Shape Neck

Next Row: Dec 1 st, K35 (38, 42, 45, 49, 52, 56, 59, 63, 66, 70), K2tog, turn.

Continue on the last set of sts as follows:

Next Row: P to last 2 sts, dec 1st.

Dec 1 st at armhole edge on every row at the same time dec 1 st at neck edge on the next and every following alt row until 28 (31, 35, 41, 44, 48, 51, 52, 53, 55, 54) sts remain.

Continue to dec 1 st at neck edge only on every following alt row from previous dec until 13 (16, 20, 28, 31, 35, 43,45, 47, 49, 50) sts remain.

Continue without further shaping until armhole measures same as Back to shoulders finishing at armhole edge.

Shape Shoulder

Cast off 6 (7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 16, 17, 17) sts at beg of next row.

Work 1 row. Cast off remaining 7 (8, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, 16, 17, 17, 18) sts.

With RS facing, rejoin yarn to remaining sts at neck edge.

Next Row: K2tog, K to last 2 sts, dec 1 st.

Next Row: Dec 1 st, P to end. Complete as instructions given for other side.

PRESSING

With wrong side facing, pin out all pieces to measurements given. Press as instructions given on ball band.

MAKING UP

Join right shoulder seam by top sewing.

NECKBAND

With RS facing, using 2.75mm needles, pick up and K48 (52, 56, 64, 68, 74, 82, 86, 90, 90, 90) sts evenly down left side neck, pick up loop before next st and K it tbl (mark with a coloured thread), pick up and K48 (52, 56, 64, 68, 74, 82, 86, 90, 90, 90) sts evenly up right side neck and K38 (40, 42, 44, 44,46, 46, 48, 50, 52, 52) sts from back neck st holder. 135 (145, 155, 173, 181, 195, 211, 221, 231, 233, 233) sts.

Next Row: P1, * K1, P1, rept from * to end.

Next Row: Rib to within 2 sts of marked st, K2tog tbl, K1, K2tog, rib to end.

Next Row: Rib to within 2 sts of marked st, P2tog, P1, P2tog tbl, rib to end.

Rept the last 2 rows 3 (3, 3, 3, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5) times more. Cast off in rib, dec as before. Join left shoulder seam by top sewing.

ARMBANDS (BOTH ALIKE)

Commencing on a 2nd Row, work 9 (9, 9, 9, 13, 13, 13, 13, 13, 13, 13) rows in rib as given for Back.

Cast off in rib. Join side seams by top sewing.
