MATERIALS

• Sirdar Click Chunky, 70% acrylic/30% wool, 50g/75m/81yds

Shade: Gull Grey 185

• 5mm and 6mm hook

• Stitch markers

• Tapestry needle

TENSION

Work 11 sts and 8 rows in linked half treble, in the round to measure 10x10cm/4 x 4in using 6mm hook, or size required to obtain tension.

SPECIAL STITCH PATTERNS

CABLE

Worked up the centre front of the sweater, using 12 stitches.

Rnd 1: Rtrb around 2 sts, rtrf around 8 sts, rtrb round 2 sts.

Rnd 2: Rtrb around 2 sts, miss 4 sts, rtrf around next 4 sts, rtrf around 4 missed sts, rtrb around 2 sts.

Rnds 3 & 4: Rep rnd 1.

SPECIAL STITCHES

Linked half treble crochet (lhtr): Insert hook in strand of yarn that crosses front of htr just made, just below two top loops of st, yoh, pull up loop, insert hook in next indicated st, yoh, pull up loop, yoh, draw through 3 loops on hook. For lhtr after starting ch, insert hook into 2nd ch from hook, yoh, pull up loop, insert hook in indicated st, yoh, pull up loop, yoh, draw through 3 loops on hook.

PATTERN NOTES

Unless otherwise stated join each rnd to top of starting ch with sl st. Starting chain does not count as a stitch, throughout.

Move markers up one row once you've passed them on either side of cable panel and raglan shaping in yoke.

BODY

WAISTBAND

Foundation Chain:

Using larger hk, ch 104 (112, 124, 136, 148), being careful not to twist, join first ch to last ch with sl st. 

Rnd 1: Using smaller hk, 2ch, htr in each ch to end, pm, join - 104 (112, 124, 136, 148) sts.

Rnd 2: 2ch, *rhtrb, rhtrf; rep from * to end, join.

Rep rnd 2 twice more.

MAIN BODY

Rnd 1: Using larger hk, 2ch, lhtr (see Special Stitches) in each of next 20 (22, 25, 28, 31) sts, pm, rtrb in next 2 sts, rtrf in next 8 sts, rtrb in next 2 sts, pm, lhtr in each st to end, join.

Rnd 2: 2ch, lhtr in each st to marker, rtrb in next 2 sts, miss 4 sts, rtrf in next 4 sts, rtrf in 4 missed sts, rtrb in next 2 sts, Ihtr in each st to end, join.

Rnd 3: 2ch, lhtr in each st to marker, rtrb in next 2 sts, rtrf in next 8 sts, rtrb in next 2 sts, Ihtr in each st to end, join.

Rnds 4 & 5: Rep rnd 3 Rep rnds 2-5 a further 6 times, or until piece measures 42cm/16.5in, making sure to end on a row 5 of repeat.

Next Rnd: 2ch, 2 (2, 2, 3, 3) lhtr, pm, lhtr in each st to next marker, rtrb in next 2 sts, miss 4 sts, rtrf in next 4 sts, rtrf in missed 4 sts, rtrb in next 2 sts, lhtr in next 17 (19, 22, 24, 27) sts, pm, lhtr in next 4 (4, 4, 6, 6) sts, pm, lhtr in next 48 (52, 58, 64, 70) sts, pm, lhtr in each st to end, join (armholes indicated by 4 markers).

Foundation Chain: Using larger hk, ch 24 (26, 26, 28, 30), being careful not to twist, join last ch to first ch with sl st.

Rnd 1: Using smaller hk, 2ch, htr in each ch to end, join - 24 (26, 26, 28, 30) sts.

Rnd 2: 2ch, *rhtrb, rhtrf; rep from * to end, join.

Rep rnd 2 twice more.

MAIN SLEEVE

Size L only:

Rnd 1: Using larger hk, 2ch, 1lhtr, 2lhtr in next st, lhtr in each st to end, join - 27 sts.

Sizes S, M, 1X, 2X only:

Rnd 1: Using larger hk, 2ch, lhtr in each st to end, join.

All sizes:

Rnd 2: 2ch, 1lhtr, 2lhtr in next st, lhtr in each st to 2 sts from end, 2lhtr in next st, 1lhtr, join - 26 (28, 29, 30, 32) sts.

Rnds 3 & 4: 2ch, lhtr in each st to end, join.

Rep rnds 2-4 a further 7 times - 40 (42, 43, 44, 46) sts.

Work straight in rnds of lhtr, until sleeve measures 44 (46, 47, 48, 50)cm/17 1/4 (18, 18 1/2, 19, 19 1/2)in.

Last Rnd: 2ch, 2 (2, 2, 3, 3) lhtr, pm, lhtr to 2 (2, 2, 3, 3) sts from end, pm, lhtr to end, join (armhole joins indicated by 2 markers).

Fasten off.

YOKE

Holding the left sleeve to the body, with the markers matched up so that the underarm stitches are together, with sl st, join the yarn at the point where the back 2 markers meet, working through both the marked sleeve and body stitches, 2ch, 1lhtr, lhtr in each st across left sleeve to next marker, work 1lhtr through both the marked sleeve and body sts, lhtr in each st to marker, rtrb in next 2 sts, rtrf in next 8 sts, rtrb in next 2 sts, lhtr in each st to marker, work 1lhtr through marked body stitch and front marked right sleeve stitch, lhtr across right sleeve to marker, work 1lhtr through marked sleeve and body stitches, lhtr in each stitch to end, join, pm - 160 (168, 190, 196, 212) sts.

Rnd 1: 2ch, 1lhtr in each st to end, working cable repeat as you come to it, join. Rep rnd 1, 1 (2, 2, 2, 2) more times.

Next Rnd: (Set up for decreases) 2ch, 36 (38, 39, 38, 40)lhtr, pm, 16 (17, 22, 24, 27)lhtr, work cable panel as est, 16 (17, 22, 24, 27)lhtr, pm, 36 (38, 39, 38, 40)lhtr, pm, 44 (46, 56, 60, 66) lhtr, join.

Remove all but cable and beg of rnd markers.

NECKBAND

Rnd 1: Using smaller hk, 2ch, htr in each st to next marker, rtrb in next 2 sts, rtrf in next 8 sts, rtrb in next 2 sts, htr in each st to end, join.

Rnd 2: 2ch, *rhtrb, rhtrf; rep from * to end, join.

Rep rnd 2 twice more.

Fasten off.

FINISHING

Weave in ends. Seam together underarm stitches. Block.
