Santa is hiding a gift-card surprise, that's cleverly tucked out of sight on the back side. He makes a cute decoration for, either a holiday tree or a gift package.

BACK
Row 1 (RS): With red, ch 2, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, turn. (2 sc)

HATBAND
Row 1 (RS): With Aran, ch 19, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, turn. (18 sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in each st across to last 2 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts, turn. (16 sc)
Row 3: Ch 1, sc dec in first 2 sts, sc in each of next 5 sts, 2 sc in each of next 2 sts, sc in each of next 5 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts. Fasten off.
NOSE
Rnd 1: With coral, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join (see Pattern Notes) in top of beg ch-2. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: Sc dec in next 5 sts. Leaving a long tail for sewing, fasten off. (1 sc)
POMPOM
Wrap Aran around 3 fingers 25 times and then carefully remove. Slide jingle bell to center of 8-inch length of Aran and tie tightly around center of wraps. Do not cut the ends of this center tie. Cut folded ends of wraps. Fluff Pompom and trim ends even.
ASSEMBLY
1. Thread tail of Nose to WS through center front above beard and secure.
2. With cotton swab, lightly apply blush to cheek area on each side of Nose.
3. Twist 1/2 inch of each end of chenille stem into a small circle. With WS of Front and Back held tog, clip or pin side edges of Hatband to both layers, having side edges even with ends of rows 13-16 of Front. Insert chenille stem between layers and place additional clips or pins around as desired.
4. With Front facing and working through all layers, join white in row 12, ch 1, sc evenly sp around in ends of rows and in sts of first and last rows, changing color as needed to match colors of Front, join in beg sc. Fasten off.
5. Glue cabochons to face above Nose where desired.
6. Thread tails of Pompom through tip of hat from back to front and tie securely.
7. Insert gift card in slit in Back. Bend tip of hat toward Front to form hanger.
