MATERIALS

• Caron Simply Soft medium (worsted) weight acrylic yarn (6 oz/315yds/170g per skein):

3 skeins each #9727 black and #9702 off-white

• Caron Simply Soft Heathers medium (worsted) weight acrylic yarn (5 oz/250 yds/142g per skein):

4 skeins #9509 grey heather

• Size H/8/5mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

• Tapestry needle

GAUGE

14 dc = 4 inches; 9 rows = 4 inches

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Chain-2 at beginning of round counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.

Change color every 2 rows as indicated in pattern.

AFGHAN

Row 1: With black, ch 233, dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each of next 4 chs, *sk next 2 chs, sl st in next ch, ch 2, dc in each of next 5 chs, ch 2, sl st in next ch, sk next 2 chs, dc in each of next 5 chs, rep from * across, ending with dc in last ch, turn. (29 groups of dc steps)

Row 2: Ch 2 (see Pattern Notes), dc in each of next 5 dc, *sl st in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, dc in each of next 5 dc, ch 2, sl st in next ch-2 sp, sk next sl st, dc in each of next 5 dc, sk next sl st, rep from * across, dc in turning ch, turn.

Rows 3 & 4: Join grey heather, rep row 2.  

Rows 5 & 6: Join off-white, rep row 2.

Rows 7 & 8: Join black, rep row 2.

Rows 9-140: [Rep rows 3-8 consecutively] 22 times. At the end of last rep, fasten off.
