Size: Approx. 33 x 66 cm/13" x 26"
Materials: "Uni 4-fadig" (75% pure wool, 25% polyamide, approx. 210 m/50 g): 150 g each in White, col 00600, and Heathered Flannel, col 00033; small amount of Pink, col 01976; size 4 mm Prym needles; fiber fill.
Stockinette: K on RS, p on WS.
Full-fashion decreases: At beg of RS row, selvedge st, k1, k2tog; at end of RS row, work to last 4 sts, SKP (sl1 kwise, k1, psso), k1, selvedge st.
Full-fashion increases: Work M1R (= pick up horizontal thread and k1tbl) increase, 2 sts in from each edge.
Tension: 18 sts and 29 rows = 10 x 10 cm/4" x 4" in Stockinette and 2 strands of yarn held tog.
Pillow is worked with 2 strands of yarn held tog throughout!
Front of body: With 2 strands White held tog, cast on 66 sts and work in Stockinette for 20 rows. Working full-fashion decs, dec 1 st at beg and end of next RS row, then every foll RS row 12 times = 40 sts. Cont in Stockinette until piece measures 56 rows from cast-on. Working full-fashion incs, inc 1 st at beg and end of next RS row, then every foll RS row 12 times = 66 sts. Cont in Stockinette until piece measures 86 rows from cast-on.
Shape neck: Bind off center 10 sts. Working each side separately, bind off 3 sts at each neck edge once, then 2 sts once, then 1 st every other row 3 times. When piece measures 98 rows from cast-on, bind off remaining 20 sts for each shoulder.
Back of body: Work same as for front of body, only with 2 strands Heathered Flannel held tog.
Front of head: With 2 strands White held tog, cast on 8 sts. Work in Stockinette for 1 row. Cont in Stockinette and work shaping as foll: Cast on 3 sts at beg of next 4 rows, then 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Inc 1 st at beg and end of next 4 RS rows, then every other RS row twice = 36 sts. Work 8 rows even. Bind off 1 st at beg of next 2 rows. * Work 2 rows even. Bind off 1 st at beg of next 2 rows. Repeat from * once more, then bind off 1 st at beg of next 6 rows, then 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then 3 sts at beg of next 4 rows. Bind off remaining 8 sts.
Back of head: Work same as for front of head, only with 2 strands Heathered Flannel held tog.
Front of ear (make 2): With 2 strands White held tog, cast on 14 sts and work in Stockinette for 54 rows. Bind off 1 st at beg of next 12 rows. Bind off remaining 2 sts.
Back of ear (make 2): With 2 strands Heathered Flannel held tog, cast on 18 sts and work in Stockinette for 54 rows. Bind off 1 st at beg of next 16 rows. Bind off remaining 2 sts.
Finishing: Pin pieces to measurements and block with damp towels. Sew shoulder and side seams. Sew bottom seam. Lightly stuff body with fiber fill. Sew front and back of head to neck edge, tilting pieces slightly as shown in photo. Sew front and back of head tog, leaving a small opening. To keep the fiber fill from slipping down into the body, sew a seam along the neck edge. Tightly stuff head with fiber fill. Sew opening closed. Sew front and back of ears tog, leaving a small opening. Lightly stuff ears with fiber fill.
Stuff first ear more than 2nd ear, so that 2nd ear can be bent as shown in photo. Sew opening closed. Sew ears to head. With White and Heathered Flannel, make a 8 cm/3 1/4" pompom. Sew pompom to lower edge at center. Thread tapestry needle with Pink. Work 4 rows over 4 sts, then 1 row over 2 sts in duplicate stitch at each corner for paws. With Heathered Flannel, embroider eyes and mouth and with Pink, embroider nose as shown in photo. With White, tie off the 4 corners, as paws.
