SPECIAL STITCHES

Raised Ridges: (any number of stitches)

Row 1: (WS) Dc in 3rd ch from hook and each ch across.

Row 2: (RS) Ch 2 (counts as fpdc), sk 1st dc, [fpdc around next dc] across, turn.

Row 3: Ch 2 (counts as fpdc), sk 1st dc, [bpdc around next dc] across, turn.

Rep Rows 2-3 for patt.

Alternating Stitch Pattern: (any number of stitches)

Rows 1-2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Row 3: Ch 3, dc in next st, dc in each st across, turn.

Rep Rows 1-3 for patt.

Stripe Sequence: 1 row MC, 1 row CC4,1 row CC3, 1 row CC2,1 row CC1; rep these 5 rows for Stripe Sequence.

Shell Edging: * [Sc, ch 1, sc] in same sc, skip next sc; rep from *, join with sl st to beg sp.

INSTRUCTIONS

Yoke

Ch 7 (9, 10, 12, 13, 15) for front, place marker (pm), ch 12 (14, 14, 16, 16, 18) for sleeve, pm, ch 14 (18, 20, 24, 26, 30) for back, pm, ch 12 (14, 14, 16, 16, 18) for sleeve, pm, ch 7 (9, 10, 12, 13, 15) for front, ch 2 and turn.

First 10 rows of Yoke are worked changing colors according to Stripe Sequence, and working in Raised Ridges pattern.

Row 1: (inc row) * Work row 1 of Raised Ridges patt to 1 ch before marker, 2 dc in next 2 ch; rep from * for each marker, work in patt to end—8 sts.

Row 2: (inc row) * Work to 1 st before marker, [2fpdc around next dc] twice; rep from * for each marker, work in patt to end—8 sts*

Rows 3-10: Work an inc row* Break all CCs, work in MC only.

Rows 11-12 (12, 13, 13, 14, 14):* Work in Alternating Stitch Pattern to 1 st before marker, 2 sc (or 2 dc) in the next 2 sts; rep from * for each marker, work in patt to end—8 sts.

After all inc's are complete, there are 148 (160, 172, 184, 196, 208) sts.

Separate Sleeves, Body

Next Row: Work In patt across 19 (21, 23, 25, 27, 29) front sts, skip 36 (38, 40, 42, 44, 46) sleeve sts, work across 38 (42,46, 50, 54, 58) back sts, skip 36 (38, 40, 42, 44, 46) sleeve sts, work in patt across rem 19 (21, 23, 25, 27, 29) front sts. Work even in Alternating Stitch Patt until Body meas 4 (5, 6, 7, 8, 9)" from separation.

Hem

Changing colors according to Stripe Sequence, work 6 rows of Raised Ridges Pattern, ending with MC row. Fasten off.

Sleeves

Working across 36 (38, 40, 42, 44, 46) skipped Sleeve sts, work even in Alternating Stitch Pattern for 2 rows.

Dec row: Sc 1 (or dc 1), work 2 sts tog, work in patt to last 3 sts, work 2 sts together, sc or dc 1 —2 sts dec'd. Rep Dec row every 3rd row, 3 (3, 4, 4, 4, 4) more times—28 (30, 30, 32, 34, 36) sts rem. Work even in patt, if necessary, until Sleeve meas 6 1/2 (7, 7 1/2, 8, 8 1/2, 9)".

Cuff

Changing colors according to Stripe Sequence, work 6 rows of Raised Ridges Pattern, ending with MC row. Fasten off.

Finishing

Place marker for 3 button loops along Left Front Yoke Stripes, with first marker at bottom Stripe, next marker at top Stripe, and last marker spaced evenly in between.

Edging

Attach MC anywhere at Hem.

Rnd 1: Work sc evenly along lower Body edge, at corner, work 3 sc, sc evenly along Right Front, 3 sc at corner sp, sc evenly along Neck edge, [ch 4 (button loop), work 5 sc along Left Front edge] twice, ch 4, sc evenly down Left Front, 3 sc at corner sp, sc along rem edge of lower Body, join with sl st to beg sc—3 Button Loops.

Rnd 2: Work Shell Edging along lower Body edge, workedging up Right Front, around Neck Edge, [4 sc in button loop, sc in next 5 sc] twice, 4 sc in button loop, work Edging down Left Front and along rem edge of lower Body, join with sl st to beg sp. Fasten off.

Sew Buttons to Right Front opposite Button Loops.
