Pair of 4mm (No. 8) knitting needles; size 3.50 crochet hook; sewing needle and sewing thread; approximately 70cm of 2.5cm - wide ribbon.

Tension

20 stitches and 28 rows, to 10 x 10cm, over pattern, using 4mm needles.

Repeat last 4 rows, 3 times more. K 1 row. Cast off pwise.

With right side facing, using 3.50 hook and omitting cast-on edge, work a row of double crochet evenly around outer edges of collar.

Fasten off securely.

To make up

Join shoulder seams. Sew sleeves into armholes. Join side and sleeve seams. Beginning and ending 2.5cm in from front edge, sew collar evenly around neck edge. Cut ribbon in half and sew one length to left side seam, just below armhole and the other to right front edge to correspond with left front. 

With right side facing, using 3.50 hook and beginning and ending at base of collar, work a row of double crochet evenly around front edges and back lower edge. Fasten off and neaten ends.
