YOU WILL NEED
Louisa Harding Cassia DK, 75% superwash wool, 25% acrylic (approx 133m per 50g ball)
4[5:5:6] x 50g balls 104 Powder
Pair each of 3.75 and 4mm needles
Note: Yarn amounts given are based on average requirements and are approximate.
TENSION
22 sts and 30 rows to 10cm (4in) over st st using 4mm needles.
Use larger or smaller needles if necessary to obtain correct tension.
BACK
Using 4mm needles and using the cable cast on method, work picot cast on as folls: *Cast on 5 sts using the cable cast on method, cast off 2 sts, slip st on RH needle back onto LH needle (3 sts now on LH needle), rep from * 20[22:24:26] times more. 63[69:75:81] sts.
Edging row 1: Knit.
Edging row 2: Knit.
Edging row 3: Knit.
Edging row 4(eyelets): K1, p1, (yon, p2tog) to last st, k1.
Edging row 5: Knit.
Edging row 6: Knit.
Beg with a k row work 20 rows in g-st, (every row knit).
Now work 10 rows in st st and lace ZigZag panel setting sts as folls:
Patt row 1: K18[21:24:27], (k2tog, yon) twice, k5, (k2tog, yon) twice, k1, (yon, ssk) twice, k5, (yon, ssk) twice, k18[21:24:28].
Patt row 2, 4, 6 and 8: Purl.

These 10 rows form the st st and lace ZigZag panel and are worked throughout.
Cont to work 10 row patt as set until work measures approx 18.5[20.5:22:27]cm (7.25[8:8.75:10.5]in), ending with RS facing.
Shape armholes
Keeping central panel correct cast off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows. 53[59:65:71] sts. Cont to work in patt until armhole measures 13[14:15:16]cm (5[5.5:6:6.5]in), ending with RS facing for next row.
Shape back neck
Patt until there are 14[17:19:22] sts on RH needle and turn, leaving rem sts on a holder. Work each side of neck separately.
Right shoulder
Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 3 rows. 11[14:16:19] sts. Cast off rem 11[14:16:19] sts. Slip centre 25[25:27:27] sts onto a holder.
Left shoulder
With RS facing rejoin yarn to rem sts, patt to end. Work 1 row. Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 3 rows. 11[14:16:19] sts. Cast off rem 11[14:16:19] sts.
FRONT
Work as given for Back until Front is 10[10:12:14] rows shorter than Back, ending with RS facing for next row.
Shape front neck
Patt until there are 18[21:23:26] sts on RH needle and turn, leaving rem sts on a holder. Work each side of neck separately. Cast off 4 sts at beg of next row. 14[17:19:22] sts. Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 3 rows. 11[14:16:19] sts.
Left shoulder
Work without further shaping for a further 5[5:7:9] rows. Cast off rem 11[14:16:19] sts. Slip centre 17[17:19:19] sts onto a holder. With RS facing rejoin yarn to rem sts, patt to end. Work 1 row.
Right shoulder
Cast off 4 sts at beg of next row. 14[17:19:22] sts. Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 3 rows. 11(14:16:19] sts. Work without further shaping for a further 5[5:7:9] rows. Cast off rem 11[14:16:19] sts.
SLEEVES
Using 4mm needles and using the cable cast on method, work picot cast on as folls: *Cast on 5 sts using the cable cast on method, cast off 2 sts, slip st on RH needle back onto LH needle (3 sts now on LH needle), rep from * 12[12:14:14] times more. 39[39:45:45] sts.
Edging row 1: Knit.
Edging row 2: Knit.
Edging row 3: Knit.
Edging row 4 (eyelets): K1, p1, (yon, p2tog) to last st, k1.
Edging row 5: Knit.

Beg with a k row work 6 rows in g-st. Now work 10 rows in st st and lace ZigZag panel setting sts as folls:

Cont to work in patt as set and at the same time inc 1 st at each end of next row and every foll 4th[6th:6th:6th] row to 57[61:65:69] sts.
Cont to work in patt until work measures 23.5[27:30.5:34]cm (9.25[10.5:12:13.5]in), ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off.
TO FINISH OFF
Press/block pieces. Sew together right shoulder seam.
Neck edging
With RS facing and using 3.75mm needles pick up and knit 9[9:10:13] sts down left front neck, k17[17:19:19] sts from holder for front neck, pick up and knit 8(8:9:12] sts up right front neck to shoulder, pick up and knit 3 sts down right back neck, k25[25:27:27] sts from holder for back neck, pick up and knit 3 sts up left back neck to shoulder. 65(65:71:77] sts.
Edging row 1 (WS): Knit.
Edging row 2: Knit.
Edging row 3 (eyelets): K1, p1, (yon, p2tog) to last st, k1.
Edging row 4: Knit.
Edging row 5: Knit.
Edging row 6: Knit.
Work picot cast off as folls: Cast off 3 sts, *slip st on RH needle back onto LH needle, cast on 2 sts, then cast off 5 sts, rep from * to end. Join left shoulder seam and neck edging.
Insert square set in Sleeve as follows: sew cast-off edge of Sleeve top into armhole. Making a neat right angle, sew straight sides at top of Sleeve to cast-off stitches at armhole. Join side and Sleeve seams using either mattress stitch or back stitch, leaving side seam open for g-st edging.
