Bergere de France Plume, 47% polyamide, 42% acrylic, 11% wool (approx 60m per 50g ball)

4[5:5:6:7] x 50g balls 340.941 Gris clair

Pair of 4.5mm needles

Stitch holders

3 x 13mm clear press studs

TENSION

17 sts and 33 rows to 10cm (4in) over g-st using 4.5mm needles.

Use larger or smaller needles if necessary to obtain correct tension.

BACK

Using 4.5mm needles cast on 43[46:49:53:54] sts. Work straight in g-st until Back measures 14[16:18:20:21]cm (5.5[6.25:7:8:8.25]in) (46[52:60:66:70] rows).

Raglan

Cast off 2[2:2:3:3] sts at the beg of the next 2 rows. Then leave the rem 39[42:45:47:48] sts on a stitch holder.

RIGHT FRONT

Using 4.5mm needles cast on 23[25:26:28:29] sts. Work straight in g-st until Right Front measures 14[16:18:20:21]cm (5.5[6.25:7:8:8.25]in) (46[52:60:66:70] rows).

Raglan

Cast off 2[2:2:3:3] sts at the beg of the next WS row. Then leave the rem 21[23:24:25:26] sts on a stitch holder.

LEFT FRONT

Using 4.5mm needles cast on 23[25:26:28:29] sts. Work straight in g-st until Left Front measures 14[16:18:20:21]cm (5.5[6.25:7:8:8.25]in) (46[52:60:66:70] rows).

Raglan

Cast off 2[2:2:3:3] sts at the beg of the next RS row. Then leave the rem 21[23:24:25:26] sts on a stitch holder.

SLEEVES

Using 4.5mm needles cast on 29[32:33:33:34] sts. Work straight in g-st until Sleeve measures 4cm (1.5in) (14 rows). Next row (inc): K2, m1, k to last 2 sts, m1, k2. Rep the inc row on every foll 10th[12th:12th:12th:12th] row 2[2:3:2:2] more times and then again on every foll 0th[0th:0th:10th:10th] row 0[0:0:2:2] times. 35[38:41:43:44] sts. Cont without shaping until work measures 14[16:19:21:22]cm (5.5[6.25:7.5:8.25:8.5]in) (46[52:62:70:72] rows) total.

Raglan

Cast off 2 sts at the beg of the next 2 rows. Then leave the rem 31[34:37:39:40] sts on a stitch holder.

YOKE

Place all the sts from the stitch holders back on one 4.5mm needle ready to start knitting on a RS row as foll: 21[23:24:25:26] sts for the Left Front, 31[34:37:39:40] sts for first Sleeve, 39[42:45:47:48] sts for the Back, 31[34:37:39:40] sts for second Sleeve and 21[23:24:25:26] sts for the Right Front. 143[156:167:175:180] sts.

Next row (RS): K19[21:22:23:24, k2tog twice, k27[30:33:35:36], k2tog twice, k35[38:41:43:44], k2tog twice, k27[30:33:35:36], k2tog twice, kl9[21:22:23:24]. 135[148:159:167:172] sts. Work straight in g-st for 3[3:3:3:1] rows.

[18]mths size

* on foll 4th row, then on foll 2 alt rows *, rep from * to * 2 more times, then work the dec row on foll 4th row, and again on foll alt row. 55 sts.

[24]mths size

* on foll 4th row, then on foll alt row *, rep from * to * 4 more times, then work the dec row on foll 4th row 1 more time. 60 sts.

After the final dec row has been worked knit 1 row on the rem 47[52:55:55:60] sts, ending on a WS row. 

Collar

Cont to work straight in g-st until Collar measures 4cm (1.5in) (12 rows).

Next row (RS): Inc 10 sts evenly across the row. 57[62:65:65:70] sts.

Cont to work straight in g-st until Collar measures 8cm (3in) (26 rows). Cast off all sts.

TO FINISH OFF

Sew Sleeve and side seams of jacket. Sew press studs in place, placing the 1st one 10cm (4in) down from top of collar and the next two at 6cm (1.25in) intervals. Secure and weave in ends. Fold collar out to wear.
