Work 0(0:1:0] rows. Cast off 2 sts in patt at beg of next 14(8:12:20] rows. 11(29:23:11] sts. Cast off 3 sts in patt at beg of next 2(8:6:2] rows. 5 sts. Cast off rem 5 sts in patt.
RIGHT FRONT BORDER
With RS facing, using 3.25mm needles and A, beg at 5 cast off sts at front neck, pick up and kl 5(18:20:20] sts evenly along right front opening edge.
Knit 10 rows g-st. Cast off. Sew edge of band to 5 cast off sts at front neck opening.
LEFT FRONT BORDER
With RS facing, using 3.25mm needles and A, beg at front neck edge, pick up and k15(18:20:20] sts evenly along left front opening edge. Knit 10 rows in g-st, finishing after a RS row.
Next Row: K5, turn and leave rem 10(13:15:15] sts on holder. (You will come back to these 10(13:15:15] sts later to complete front band.) 5 sts. Cont on these 5 sts as folls: Work 3 rows.
Next Row: K2, yfwd, k2tog, k1. Work 3 rows. Cast off.
With WS facing, rejoin yarn to rem 10(13:15:15] sts, cast off first 3(6:8:8] sts, k4. cast off 2 sts. 5 sts. With RS facing rejoin yarn to rem 5 sts and cont as folls: Work 3 rows.

COLLAR
Join shoulder seams.
Using 3.25mm needles and A. with RS facing and beg at centre of Right Front border pick up and k13(15:16:19] sts evenly up right side of neck, 16(20:22:22] sts from 21(23:27:27] cast off sts at back neck and 13(15:16:19] sts evenly down left side of neck, ending at centre of Left Front border. 42(50:54:60] sts.
Row 1 (RS): S1, k9(13:15:18], (inc in next st, k2) 7 times, inc in next st, k10(14:16:19). 50(58:62:68] sts.
Knit 3 rows in g-st.
Row 5: S1, k10(14:16:19], (inc in next st, k3) 7 times, inc in next st, k10(14:16:19]. 58(66:70:76] sts.
Cont in g-st until collar meas 6(6:7:7]cm, (2.5[2.5:2.75:2.75]in), finishing after a WS row.

TO FINISH OFF
Join side and sleeve seams.
Sew sleeve tops into armholes matching 4(4:5:6) dec rows on body to 4(4:5:6] dec rows marked at beg of sleeve top.
Placing Left Front band over Right Front band sew lower edge in position. Sew on buttons.
Pin out garment to meas given and cover with damp cloths until dry.

LEFT EAR FLAP
Using 3.25mm needles and A, cast on 5 sts.
Row 1 (RS): Knit.
Cont in g-st for rem of Left Ear Flap and Strap as folls: Work 4 rows.
Next Row (Buttonhole row): K2, yfwd. k2tog, k1. Work 6 rows. Work 2 rows inc 1 st at each end of 1st row. 7 sts.
Work 11 rows inc 1 st at each end of 1st, 5th, 9th and 11th rows. 15 sts. Work without shaping until ear flap meas 3(4:4:5]cm, (1.25(1.5:1.5:2]in) from last inc row, finishing after a WS row.
Break off yarn and slip these 15 sts onto holder. (You will come back to these sts later for main section.)

Next Row (Buttonhole row): K4, yfwd, k2tog, k18(20:22:24], yfwd, k2tog, k3. Work in g-st until turnback meas 7(7:8:8]cm, (2.75(2.75:3:3]in), finishing after a RS row. Slip these 29(31:32:35) sts onto holder.
MAIN SECTION
Using 3.25mm needles and A, cast on 8(10:12:16] sts, with RS of work facing kl5 sts of Left Ear Flap, with WS facing k29[31:33:35] sts of turnback, with RS facing kl5 sts of Right Ear Flap, cast on 8(10:12:16] sts. 75(81:87:97] sts.
