A 1 skein of Baby DK from King Cole (100% acrylic; 100 g; 320 yds) in color 207 Jeans (2)

B 1 skein of Ziggy from King Cole (80% acrylic, 20% nylon; 100 g; 320 yds) in color 401 Jive (2)  

Size F-5 (3,75 mm] crochet hook or size to obtain gauge 

Tapestry needle

GAUGE 20 dc and 10 rows — 4" 

Note: To change color, wort until 2 lps of last st rem on hook. With new color, YO and draw through 2 lps on hook. Carry unused color along side edge.

PATTERN STITCH

X-st: Sk next dc, dc in next dc, dc in sk dc.

BACK

With A, ch 52 (56, 58).

Row 1 (RS): Dc in 3rd ch from hook (2 sk chs count as a dc) and in each rem ch-50 (54, 56) dc. Turn. 

Row 2: Ch 2, *FPdc around post of next dc, BPdc around post of next dc; rep from * to beg 2 sk chs, dc in 2nd ch of beg 2 sk chs. Turn.

Row 3: Ch 2, *FPdc around post of next dc, BPdc around post of next dc; rep from * to beg ch, dc in top of beg ch 2. Turn.

Row 4: Rep row 3. 

Row 5: Ch 2, dc in each dc and in top of beg ch 2, changing fo B in last dc. Turn.

Row 6: With B, ch 2, X-st across row to beg ch, dc in top of beg ch 2, changing to A in last dc. Turn. 

Rows 7-16 (18, 20): Work rows 5 and 6 another 5 (6, 7) times. 

Shape Armholes 

Row 1 (RS): St st in first 7 dc, ch 2, dc in next 37 (41, 43) dc, changing to B in lost dc-38 (42, 44) dc. Turn, leaving rem dc unworked. 

Row 2: With B, ch 2, X-st 18 (20, 21) times, dc in top of beg ch 2f changing to A in last dc. Turn.

Row 3: With A, ch 2, dc in each dc ond in top of beg ch 2, changing to B in last dc. Turn.

Row 4; With B, ch 2, X-st 18 (20, 21) times, dc in top of beg ch 2, changing to A in last dc. Turn. 

Rows 5-10: For sizes 6 months and 12 months only, rep rows 3 ond 4. Fasten off at end of row 10.

For size 18 months: Change to A in last dc. Turn.

Row 11: With A, rep row 3. Fasten off.

Shape Left-Front Neck and Shoulder

Row 1 (RS): Wilh A, sl st in first 7 dc, ch 2, dc in next 13 (15, 17) dc, (dc2tog) twice, changing to B in last dc-16 (18, 20) dc. Turn, leaving rem dc un worked. 

Row 2: Ch 2, X-st 7 (8, 9) times, dc in top of beg ch 2, changing to A. Turn.

Note: On following rows, work last dc2tog over last dc and top of beg ch 2.

Row 3: With A, ch 2, dc in next 11 (13, 15) dc, (dc2tog) twice, changing to B-14 (16, 18) dc. Turn.

Row 4: With B, ch 2, X-st 6 [7; 8) times, dc in top of beg ch 2, changing to A, Turn.

Row 5: With A, ch 2, dc in first 9 (11, 13) dc, (dc2tog) twice, changing to B-12 (14, 16) dc. Turn.

Row 6: With B, ch 2, X-st 5 (6, 7) times, dc in top of beg ch 2, changing to A. Turn.

Shape Right-Front Neck and Shoulder

Hold Front with RS facing you and last row worked at top; join A in 3rd (3rd, 1st) dc to left of left-front neck and shoulder.

Row 1 (RS): Ch 2, dc in next dc, dc2tog, dc in next 14 (16, 18) dc, changing to B-17 (19, 21) dc. Turn, leaving rem dc unworked. 

Row 2: With B, ch 2, X-st 7 (8, 9) times, dc in last dc, changing to A—16 (18, 20) dc. Turn, leaving beg ch 2 unworked. 

Row 3: With A, ch 2, dc in next dc, dc2tog, dc in next 11 (13, 15) dc and in top of beg ch 2, changing to B—15 (17, 19) dc. Turn.

Row 4: With B, ch 2, X-st 6 (7, 8) times, dc in last dc, changing to A-14 (16, 18) dc. Turn, leaving beg ch 2 unworked. 

Row 5: With A, ch 2, dc in next dc, dc2tog, dc in next 9 (11, 13) dc and in top of beg ch 2, changing to B—13 (15, 17) dc. Turn. 

Row 6: With B, ch 2, X-st 5 (6, 7) times, dc in last dc, changing to A—12 (14, 16) dc. Turn, leaving beg ch 2 unworked.

Row 8: With B, ch 2, X-st 4 |5, 6) times, dc in last dc, changing to A—10 (12, 14) dc. Turn, leaving beg ch 2 unworked. 

Row 9: With A, ch 2, dc in each dc and in top of beg ch 2, changing to B. Turn.

Row 10: With B, ch 2, X-st 4 (5, 6) times, dc in top of beg ch 2.

Fasten off. Sew shoulder and side seams. 

FINISHING

Armhole Edging

Hold vest with RS facing you and one armhole edge at top; join A in any underarm st. Ch 1, sc in same st, in each rem st, and in edge of each row around; join in first sc. Fasten off and weave in tails. Rep for other armhole. 

Neck Edging

Hold vest with RS facing you and neck at top; join A in left shoulder seam.

Ch 1, sc in seam, work 2 sc in edge of each row along center left front; for sizes 6 and 12 months only: sc2tog in 2 sk sts at bottom of V; for all sizes: work 2 sc in edge of each row along center-right front, in right shoulder seam, and in each st across back; join in first sc. Fasten off.
