Crochet Cherries

A pair of bright red cherries always looks cheerful.

Yarn: Scarlet (9) and Kingfisher (771).

Cherry (make 2)

Using Scarlet, make 5ch, join with slst into a ring. 

1st round: 1ch, 10dc in ring, miss 1ch, slst in first dc - 10dc.

2nd round: 1ch, [1dc in next dc, 2dc in next dc] 5 times, miss 1ch, slst in first dc- 15 sts.

3rd round: 1ch, [1dc in next st] 15 times, miss 1ch, slst in first dc.

4th and 5th rounds: As 3rd round.

6th round: 1ch, [1dc in next dc, dc2tog in next 2dc] 5 times, miss 1ch, slst in first dc - 10 sts.

7th round: 1ch, [dc2tog] 5 times, miss 1ch, slst in first dc2tog - 5 sts.

Fasten off, leaving a long end.

Stems: Using Kingfisher, make 9ch, slst in 2nd ch from hook then in each of next 3ch, make 10ch, slst in 2nd ch from hook then in each of next 8ch, make 8ch, slst in 2nd ch from hook then in each of next 6ch, slst in each of remaining 4ch of first 9ch. Fasten off.

To make up: Lightly fill cherry with spare yarn. Use yarn end to gather last 5 stitches then take yarn through the centre to secure one stem in the chain ring at the top of the cherry. Complete the second cherry to match.
