Front-post double crochet (FPdc): YO, insert hook from front to back to front around post (vertical bar) of specified st, YO and draw up a lp; (YO and draw through 2 lps on hook) twice: FPdc made.

Note: When working FPdc, be sure to draw it up high enough so that it does not pull on the rows below.

Instructions

Work beg ch with color A. All rows are worked on right side.

Row 1 (RS): With color A, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch; finish off color A.

Row 2: With right side facing you, join color В in first sc at right edge; ch 3, dc in next 2 sc; *ch 1, sk next st, dc in next 3 sc; rep from * across; end last rep with ch 1, sk next sc, dc in last sc. Finish off color B.

Row 3: With right side facing you, join color A in top of ch-3 at right edge; ch 1, sc in same st; sc in next 2 sts, dc in skipped sc on 2nd row below; *sc in next 3 sts, dc in skipped sc on 2nd row below; rep from * across; end last rep with sc in last st. Finish off color A.

Row 4: Rep row 2. 

Row 5: With right side facing you, join color A in top of ch-3 at right edge; ch 1, sc in same st; sc in next 2 dc, FPdc around dc in 2nd row below; *sc in next 3 dc, FPdc around dc in 2nd row below; rep from * across; end last rep with sc in last dc. Finish off color A.

Rep rows 4 and 5 for patt.
