Front-post triple crochet (FPtr): YO twice; insert hook from front to back to front around post (vertical bar) of specified st and draw up a lp to height of a tr; (YO and draw through 2 lps) 3 times: FPtr made.

Braid (BR): Sk next st; FPtr in each of next 2 sts; working in front of last 2 sts, FPtr in skipped st: BR made.

Instructions

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch; ch 3 (counts as first dc of following row), turn. 

Row 2 (RS): Dc in each sc, ch 1, turn.

Row 3: Sc in each dc, ch 3, turn. 

Row 4: Dc in next 2 sts; *FPtr around next dc in the dc row below, BR over next 3 sts in the dc row below, FPtr around next st in the dc row below, dc in next 3 sts; rep from * across, ch 1, turn.

Row 5: Sc in each st, ch 3, turn.

Row 6: Dc in next 2 sts; *FPtr around next FPtr in the dc row below, BR over next 3 BR sts in dc row below as follows: sk first FPtr, (FPtr over next FPtr) twice, FPtr over skipped FPtr; FPtr around next FPtr in the dc row below; dc in next 3 sts; rep from * across, ch 1, turn.
