Measurements

To fit bust sizes 81-86 (91-97) (102-107) cm/32-34 (36-38) (40-42) in.

Actual measurements 112 (120) (128) cm/44 (47 1/4) (50 1/2) in.

Side seam All sizes 46cm/18in.

Length to shoulder 66 (67) (68) cm/26 (26 1/2) (26 3/4) in.

Sleeve seam All sizes 57cm/22 1/2in.

Materials

9 (10) (11) 50g (60m) balls of Rico Fashion Big Mohair Super Chunky (40% acrylic, 30% polyamide, 30% mohair) in Light Blue (014).

4 x 25g (62m) balls of Rico Essentials Cashlana DK (80% wool, 20% cashmere) in Light Blue (002).

Pair of 4mm (No. 8) and 8mm (No. 0) knitting needles; a cable needle.

Tension 

10 stitches and 15 rows, to 10 x 10cm, over stocking stitch, using 8mm needles and Super Chunky yarn.

Abbreviations 

K, knit; p, purl; st, stitch; tog, together; inc, increase (by working twice into same st); dec, decrease (by working 2 sts tog); c14f, cable 14 front (slip next 7 sts onto cable needle and leave at front, k7, then k7 from cable needle).

Note 

Yarn amounts are based on average requirements and are therefore approximate.

Instructions are given for small size. Where they vary, work figures in round brackets for larger sizes. Instructions in square brackets are worked as stated after 2nd bracket.

Back and front (both alike)

With 4mm needles and DK yarn, cast on 112 (120) (128) sts, using thumb method.

Rib row: [K1, p1] to end.

Rib another 9 rows. Break off DK yarn. Change to 8mm needles and Chunky yarn.

Dec row: [K2tog] to end - 56 (60) (64) sts.

Next row: K1, p to last st, k1.

Work in pattern thus:

1st row: K to end. 2nd row: K1, p to last st, k1.

3rd to 6th rows: Repeat 1 st and 2nd rows, twice.

7th row: K21 (23) (25), c14f, k21 (23) (25).

8th row: K1, p to last st, k1.

9th to 14th rows: Repeat 1 st and 2nd rows, 3 times. These 14 rows form pattern.

Continue in pattern until work measures 46cm from beginning, ending with a wrong side row.

Shape armholes: Dec 1 st at each end of next row and 5 (5) (6) following alternate rows - 44 (48) (50) sts.

Continue straight until armholes measure 20 (21) (22) cm, ending with a wrong side row. Cast off.

Sleeves (both alike)

With 4mm needles and DK yarn, cast on 52 (56) (60) sts, using thumb method.

Work in rib as given on back and front until sleeve measures 25cm from beginning, ending with an even-numbered row. Break off DK yarn.

Change to 8mm needles and Super Chunky yarn.

Dec row: [K2tog] to end - 26 (28) (30) sts.

Next row: K1, p to last st, k1.

Work 4 rows in pattern as on back.

Working extra sts into pattern as they occur, inc 1 st at each end of next row and 6 (7) (7) following 6th (5th) (5th) rows - 40 (44) (46) sts. Continue straight until sleeve measures 57cm from beginning, ending with a wrong side row.

Shape top: Dec 1 st at each end of next row and 11 (12) (13) following alternate rows - 16 (18) (18) sts. 

Work 1 row. Cast off 4 sts at beginning of next 2 rows -8 (10) (10) sts. Cast off.

To make up

With wrong sides of back and front together, join 10 (11) (12) cm at each end of cast-off edge for shoulders, leaving centre free for neck opening. Set sleeves into armholes. Join side and sleeve seams. Pin out to measurements given. Cover with damp cloths and leave to dry.
