Hooded scarf "Iseult"

FASHIONABLE YET practical, hooded scarves are fun to make and wear. This design by Bergere de France features elegant cables and a patterned rib, and is finished off with chunky tassels on the ends of the scarf and the peak of the hood. It’s knitted here in an aran-weight blend of wool and alpaca from Bergere de France, called Pure Nature. This rounded, roving yarn comes in a palette of eight soft shades, achieved using 100% natural dyes.

TO MAKE UP

Fold the hood in half with WS facing, then join the back seam.

Sew the hood along the scarf between the two coloured threads, then remove threads.

TASSELS

Make 5 tassels of 48 strands, 14cm long when complete. Cut a piece of card 14cm x 8cm. Wrap the yarn around the card approximately 48 times and cut. Thread a new piece of yarn approximately 30cm long through the middle of the loops on the card and tie at the top. Slip the yarn off the card, insert your scissors into the loop and cut at the bottom. Tie another piece of yarn around all of the loops, approximately 4.5cm from the top.

Using the yarn going through the top of the loops, tie a tassel to the point of the hood and to each corner of scarf (see blocking diagram), weaving in ends.
