PATTERN NOTES

This is a very simple pattern using a basic twisted rib pattern. However the raglan decreases are unusually worked on the wrong side of the work, and it is essential that these decreases are worked as specified.

TWISTED RIB PATTERN (4 st repeat)

Row 1 (RS): K3tbl, P1.

Row 2: P to end.

These 2 rows form pattern.

BACK AND FRONT ALIKE

Using 4mm needles, cast on 72 (80, 88, 96, 104, 112) sts and work in rib as folls:

Next row (RS): * K1, P1, rep from * to end.

Repeat until work measures 7 1/2cm (3in) ending with a RS row.

Next row (WS): * K1, P1, rep from * to last 2 sts, K1, patt into front and back of last st (73, 81, 89, 97, 105, 113 sts). Change to 6mm needles and work in Twisted Rib pattern with edging sts as folls:

Row 1 (RS): K1, * K3tbl, P1, repeat from * to end.

Row 2: K1, P to end.

Repeat these 2 rows until work measures 34 (34, 35 1/2, 37, 37, 38) cm (13 1/2, 13 1/2, 14, 14 1/2, 14 1/2, 15 in) from commencement, ending with a RS row.

Shape Armholes

With WS facing proceed as folls:

Cast off 6 sts at beginning of the next 2 rows (61, 69, 77, 85, 93, 101 sts) then dec one st at beg of next 4 rows (57, 65, 73, 81, 89, 97 sts). Work without further shaping for 10 (12, 14, 16, 18, 20) more rows, ending with a RS row.

Shape Sleeve Head

With WS facing proceed as folls:

Sew up side and sleeve seams. Darn in all ends. Sew on decorative buttons as in photo if desired.
