Bust with Fronts crossed but open: 33 1/2 inches (small) [37 1/2inches (medium), 41 inches (large), 45 inches (X-large), 49 inches (2X-large)]

Length: 19 1/4inches (small) [20 3/4inches (medium), 22 1/2 inches (large), 25 inches (X-large), 26 1/2 inches (2X-large)]

MATERIALS

Omega Escarcha superfine (fingering) weight acrylic yarn (3 1/2oz/459 yds/100g per skein):

4 [4,5,5,5] skeins #9890 gray

Size F/5/3.75mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

Stitch markers

Tapestry needle

GAUGE

In pattern: 16 sts = 3 3/4inches; 10 rows = 4 inches

Take time to check gauge.

PATTERN NOTES

Weave in ends as work progresses.

Chain-2 at beginning of row does not count as first stitch unless otherwise stated.

Last stitch of each row is worked between beginning chain-2 and second-to-last stitch.

Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

VEST

Back

Row 1 (RS): Ch 72 [80,88,96,104], hdc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (70, [78,86,94,102] sts)

Place marker between 2 center sts of row 1 to indicate center Back.

Row 2: Ch 2 (see Pattern Notes), dc in lower horizontal bar (see illustration) of each st across, ending with dc in gap between last hdc and beg ch-2 (see Pattern Notes), turn.

Row 3: Ch 2, hdc in each st across, ending with hdc in gap between last dc and beg ch-2, turn.

Row 4: Ch 2, dc in lower horizontal bar in each st across, ending with dc in gap between last hdc and beg ch-2, turn.

Rep rows 3 and 4 until Back measures 18 1/2 [20 1/4,22,24 1/2,26] inches, ending with a row 3. Fasten off.

Fronts & Collar

Row 1: Ch 59 [61,61,63,65], sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (58 [60,60,62,64] sts)

Row 2: Ch 2, hdc in each st across, turn.

Row 3: Ch 2, dc in lower horizontal bar in each st across, ending with dc in gap between last stand beg ch-2, turn.

Row 4: Ch 2, hdc in each st across, ending with hdc in gap between last st and beg ch-2, turn.

Row 5: Ch 2, dc in lower horizontal bar in each st across, ending with dc in gap between last stand beg ch-2, turn.

Row 6: Ch 1, sc in each st across, ending with sc in top of beg ch-2, turn.

Rep rows 2-5 until work measures approximately 53 3/4 [59 1/4,64 1/2,71 1/2, 76 1/2] inches, ending with a row of sc. Fasten off.

Mark the middle row with a stitch marker to indicate center of back Collar.

ASSEMBLY

Line up center stitch marker from Fronts and Back; use stitch markers to evenly secure in place and sew tog with invisible seam (see illustration) using tapestry needle.

Mark the Back and corresponding edge of Front leaving 6 1/2 [7,7 1/2, 8,8 1/2] inches from top seam to mark the underarm on each side. Line up the side edge to Back and secure with markers, using the tapestry needle to seam sides tog.

Edging

Row 1: With WS facing, join (see Pattern Notes) in bottom corner of Front, ch 2, hdc evenly in each st across, turn.

Row 2: Ch 2, dc in lower horizontal bar in each st across, ending with dc in gap between last hdc and beg ch-2, turn.

Row 3: Ch 2, hdc in each st across, ending with hdc in gap between last dc and beg ch-2,turn.

Row 4: Ch 1, sc in lower horizontal bar in each st across, ending with sc in top of beg ch-2. Fasten off.
