PATTERN NOTES

Top is designed with several inches of ease, and the fabric is stretchy. For a more streamlined fit, go down a size.

Bodice is worked in two rectangles from front to back; folded over, they create the shoulder line. The remainder of the Top is worked in rounds into the short edges of the folded-over rectangles, with skipped stitches on the outer portions of the short edges creating the open sleeves.

Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

Chain-3 at beginning of row counts as first extended double crochet unless otherwise stated.

Chain-3 at beginning of round counts as first treble crochet unless otherwise stated.

SPECIAL STITCHES

Extended double crochet (ext dc): Yo, insert hook in indicated st, yo, pull through 1 lp, [yo, pull through 2 lps] twice.

Left Bodice

Sleeve Edge

Row 1 (RS): Join (see Pattern Notes) yarn in ch at base of first half-shell of row 1 of Left Bodice, ch 1, sc in same st, working in ends of rows, (ch 4, sc) in each sc row across, ch 4, sl st in top of ch-3 of last row. Fasten off. (22 [22, 24, 24, 27, 27] ch-4 sps, 22 [22, 24, 24, 27, 27] sc)

Waist

With WS facing, lay Left Bodice and Right Bodice flat with neck edges together and Sleeve Edges on outside. Pin Bodice pieces together at top and bottom center, joining 2 half-shells of Left and Right pieces. On both pieces, place markers in 32nd [36th, 40th, 44th, 48th, 52nd] st from neck edge and at corresponding points on bottom foundation ch.

Rnd 1 (WS): On Right Bodice back, join yarn in marked st, ch 1, sc in same st and in each st across, sc in first st on Left Bodice back at neck edge, sc in each st to and in marked st, working in unworked lps of foundation ch, sc in marked st on Left Bodice front and in each lp across, sc in Right Bodice front to and in marked st, join in first sc of rnd. Fasten off. (128 [144, 160, 176, 192, 208] sc)

Rnd 2 (RS): With RS facing join yarn to right st of center back, ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), tr in next st and in each st around, join in beg ch, turn.

Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join in first sc, turn.

Rnds 4-7: [Rep rnds 2 and 3 alternately] twice.

Finishing

With RS facing, with tapestry needle and tail from foundation ch of Left Bodice, sew invisible seam (see illustration) up first 4 sc at base of front V-neck.
