YOU WILL NEED

■ Debbie Bliss, Bluefaced Leicester Aran British Wool Superwash (100% wool, 50g/75m), Teal (19)

See amounts in table 

■ A 4.5mm (US 7) hook 

■ A 40 (43: 43: 46: 46: 46: 48: 48) cm open-end zip

■ 2 x 10cm closed-end zips

■ A tapestry needle  

TENSION

14.5 sts and 15 rows in double crochet (working into the front loop only) to measure 10x10cm (4x4in) using a 4.5mm hook.

NOTES

Ch sts at the beginning of the rows do not count as sts, unless otherwise stated.

Work into the front loop of each dc only throughout pattern, unless otherwise stated.

The jacket is worked in five pieces, and then sewn or crocheted together.

The collar is added onto the jacket before sewing on the sleeves.

The three zips are sewn on by machine or by hand when the garment is complete.

The jacket is designed to be a close-fitting garment, so please check the sizing chart below to make sure you get a good fit.

BACK

Ch 64 (67: 70: 74: 76: 80: 84: 90).

Pin Fronts to Back at shoulders, aligning the outer edges.

Sew or crochet the shoulder seams together.

COLLAR

With RS facing, attach the yarn to the Right Front at the stitch marker on the Lapel.

Foundation row Ch 1, working in both loops; dc into the next 8dc along top of the Right Front Lapel, work 11 (12: 12: 12: 13: 13: 13: 13) dc evenly along the Right Front neck edge, 30 (31: 31: 31: 31: 31: 31: 33) dc evenly along the Back neck edge, 11 (12: 12: 12: 13: 13: 13: 13) dc evenly along the Left Front neck edge and dc into the next 8 dc along the top of the Left Front Lapel. EDGING

With RS facing, pick up and dc evenly (in both loops) 56 (58: 58: 60: 60: 62: 66: 68) sts up the jacket side edge, 13 (14: 14: 14: 14: 15: 15: 16) sts along the Lapel and 13 (14: 14: 14: 14: 15: 15: 16) sts up the side edge of the Collar to neaten, turn.

With RS facing, rejoin yarn to corner of the Collar on the Left Front, dc 13 (14: 14: 14: 14: 15: 15: 16) sts down the Collar side edge, 13 (14: 14: 14: 14: 15: 15: 16) sts along top of the Lapel and 56 (58: 58: 60: 60: 62: 66: 68) sts down the jacket side edge, turn.

SLEEVES (MAKE 2)

FIRST SECTION

Ch 18 (18: 19: 19: 20: 22: 22: 22).

Row 1 (RS) Ch 1, dc in each dc to end, turn.

Fasten off and put this section to one side.

TO FINISH

Gently steam or block work to the correct measurements for the size you are making.

Slip stitch around the zip opening at each cuff, pin the zips in place and them sew them in place using a needle and matching thread.

Pin the Sleeves to body and then sew them onto the jacket.

Pin the main zip neatly into position, using the image as a guide, and then sew it neatly and securely onto the jacket.

Weave in all ends.
