Cascade Yarns Pacific Color Wave medium (worsted) weight acrylic/merino yarn (3 1/2oz/213 yds/100g per skein):

6 [7,7,8,8] skeins #319 desert

Size K/10 1/2/6.5mm crochet hook or si; needed to obtain gauge

Tapestry needle

GAUGE

13 sts = 4 inches; 8 rows = 4 inches

Take time to check gauge.

Chain-2 at beginning of row does not count as stitch.

Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

SPECIAL STITCHES

First foundation half double crochet (first foundation hdc): Ch 2, yo, insert hook into 2nd ch from hook (see illustration A), yo, pull up lp, yo, pull through 1 lp on hook (see illustration B—ch-1 completed), yo, pull through all lps on hook (see illustrations C and D—hdc completed).

Fold hood in half lengthwise with RS tog, ch 1, working through both layers tog, sl st in front lp of first st of both layers, *sl st in back lp of next st of both layers, sl st in front lp of next st of both layers, rep from * across, sl st in last st, fasten off. (27 [28,29,30,31] sl sts)

With RS of front and pocket facing and first row of pocket at top, position 1 pocket to each front centered lengthwise between ch-1 sps of waistband and hem, and centered between front and side edges. Sew in place.

LEFT EDGING

Join yarn on WS of Left Back at hem, ch 2, hdc in each row across, fasten off. (104 [108,108,112,112] hdc)

RIGHT EDGING

Join yarn on WS of Right Front side opening at hem, ch 2, hdc in each row across, fasten off.

FRONT/HOOD EDGING

Join yarn on WS of Left Front opening at hem, ch 2, hdc in each row across, fasten off. (151 hdc)

SINGLE KNOT FRINGE

Cut 2 12-inch strands of yarn for each bottom st of back and fronts. Fold 2 strands in half, insert hook from back to front through st, insert hook under fold, draw through st, pull ends through lp and tighten. Rep for each bottom st.

DRAWSTRING TIES

Make 2.

With 2 strands of yarn, ch 75 [80,85,90,95], fasten off, leaving approximately 10 inches. Weave drawstring through ch-1 sps at waistband with 10-inch end at center edge. Weave in ends at side edge to secure drawstring. Thread 10-inch free end through yarn needle.

TASSELS

Make 2.

Cut 20 12-inch strands of yarn for each tassel. Fold 20 strands in half, insert yarn needle with 10-inch ends of drawstring under fold, pull through. Insert needle in last ch and tighten to secure tassel top. Wrap strands in needle around tassel twice approximately 1-inch below ch, tighten and tie knot.

Trim fringe and tassels as needed. Weave in ends.
