NOTES

Body is worked back and forth in one piece to underarm, then divided and the fronts and back are worked separately.

LACE PATTERN MULTIPLE OF 12 + 17

Slip all stitches purlwise with yarn in front (wyif).

Row 1 and all WS rows (WS) Sl 1, k1, purl to last 2 stitches, k2.

Rows 2, 4, and 6 (RS) Sl 1, k1, k2tog, [k2, yo, SSK, yo, k1, yo, k2tog, yo, k2, SK2P] to last 13, k2, yo, SSK, yo, k1, yo, k2tog, yo, k2, SSK, k2.

Row 8 Sl 1, k1, k2tog, [k1, yo, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, SSK, yo, k1, SK2P] to last 13, k1, yo, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, SSK, yo, k1, SSK, k2.

Row 10 Sl 1, k1, k2tog, [yo, k2tog, yo, k5, yo, SSK, yo, SK2P] to last 13, yo, k2tog, yo, k5, [yo, SSK] twice, k2.

Rows 12, 14, and 76 Sl 1, k2, [yo, k2tog, yo, k2, SK2P, k2, yo, SSK, yo, k1] to last 2, k2.

Row 18 Sl 1, k2, [kl, yo, SSK, yo, k1, SK2P, k1, yo, k2tog, yo, k2] to last 2 stitches, k2.

Row20 Sl 1, k2, [k2, yo, SSK, yo, SK2P, yo, k2tog, yo, k3] to last 2 sts, k2. Repeat Rows 1-20 for pattern.

Body

Cast on 245 (293, 341). Do not join; work back and forth in rows. Work Rows 1-20 of Lace Pattern 6 times, then work Rows 1-16 once more. Piece measures approximately 22".

Divide for fronts and back

Next row (WS) Work 52 (64, 76), p2tog and place stitches on right needle on hold for left front; purl to last 54 (66, 78) and place stitches on right needle on hold for back; p2tog, work to end for right front — 53 (65, 77) stitches.

Right Front

Continuing with Row 18 of chart, work even until armhole measures 6 (7, 8)", end with a WS row.

Shape shoulder

Begin short rows: SR 1 and 2 Work to last 5 (6, 7), W&T; work to end.

SR 3-10 [Work to 5 (6, 7) before wrap, W&T; work to end] 4 times.

SR 11-14 [Work to 5 (6,8) before wrap, W&T; work to end] twice.

SR 15-18 [Work to 5 (7, 8) before wrap, W&T; work to end] twice.

Next row Sl 1, work to end, hiding wraps. Cut yarn and place stitches on hold.

Left Front

Return 53 (65, 77) held left front stitches to needle. Rejoin yarn at armhole edge, ready to work a RS row.

Next row (RS) Continuing with Row 18, work even until armhole measures same as right front to shoulder, end with a RS row. Shape shoulder as for right front EXCEPT begin shoulder shaping on a WS row. Cut yarn and place stitches on hold.

Back

Return 137 (161,185) held back stitches to needle. Rejoin yarn at armhole edge, ready to work a RS row.

Next row (RS) Beginning with Row 18, work even until armhole measures same as front to shoulder, end with a WS row.

Shape shoulders

Begin short rows: SR 1 and 2 [Work to last 5 (6,7), W&T] twice.

SR 3-10 [Work to 5 (6, 7) before wrap, W&T] 8 times.

SR 11-14 [Work to 5 (6,8) before wrap, W&T] 4 times.

SR 15-18 [Work to 5 (7, 8) before wrap, W&T] 4 times.

SR 19-20 [Work to 8 (9,10) before wrap, W&T] twice. Cut yarn.

With RS facing, slip stitches from right needle to left needle.

Next row (RS) Rejoin yarn and knit to end, hiding wraps. Do not cut yarn.

Finishing

Place front stitches onto spare needle and work 3-needle bind-off as follows: With RS together, join 53 (65, 77) stitches of left shoulder; bind off back neck stitches decreasing 6 (3, 0) evenly spaced until 53 (65, 77) stitches remain on left needle; join right shoulder.

Front band crochet edging

With RS facing and crochet hook, work 1 half-double crochet (hdc) into each row and each stitch along front and neck edges.

Next row (WS) Work hdc into each hdc of previous row.

Armbands

With RS facing and beginning at underarm, work 2 rounds hdc around each armhole. Block.
