Crochet doll set



Crochet a nightgown with matching bed socks and floral headband.

SIZES

Nightgown fits 18" (45.5 cm) tall doll.

Nightgown from shoulder to bottom edge measures 12.5" (32 cm).

Bed Sock foot length measures 3" (7.5 cm).

Headband measures 21.5" (54.5 cm) long.

GAUGE

17 sc and 20 rows sc = 4" (10 cm) with smaller hook; first 8 rows of Yoke in pattern = 2.5" (6.5 cm) long with smaller hook; 4 shells of (2 dc, ch 1,2 dc) and 8 rows of shells = 4" (10 cm) with smaller hook.

Check your gauge. Change hook size to obtain correct gauge.

SPECIAL STITCH

sc2toq: [draw up a loop in next st] twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

SPECIAL TECHNIQUE

Attach with slip stitch: Place a slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated stitch or space, yarn over and draw thread through stitch or space and slip knot.

NOTES

Nightgown is worked from top to bottom in one piece.

After Yoke is completed, Body is worked in continuous rounds without turning.

Sleeves are worked in continuous rounds without turning.

Yarn*: 1 ball #936 Rocking Horse

Crochet hooks*: G-6 (4mm) and H-8 (5mm)

Three 1/2"(1 2mm) buttons

Large-eyed blunt needle

Stitch markers

Sewing needle and matching thread

*Red Heart® Anne Geddes Baby™ yarn and Susan Bates® hooks were used for this project.

INSTRUCTIONS

NIGHTGOWN

Yoke

With smaller hook, ch 41.

Row 1 (RS): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; turn—40 sc.

Row 2 (WS): Ch 2 (counts as beginning hdc now and throughout), hdc in front loop only of each sc across; turn—40 hdc.

Row 3: Ch 2, 2 hdc in back loop only of next hdc, *hdc in back loop only of next hdc, 2 hdc in back loop only of next hdc; repeat from * across, working last 2 hdc in top of beginning ch-2; turn—60 hdc.

Row 4: Ch 2, hdc in front loop only of each hdc across, working last 2 hdc in top of beginning ch-2; turn.

Rows 5-6: Repeat Rows 3-4—90 hdc.

Row 7: Ch 2, hdc in back loop only of next hdc, 2 hdc in back loop only of next hdc, *hdc in back loop only of each of next 2 hdc, 2 hdc in back loop only of next hdc; repeat from * across, working last 2 hdc in top of beginning ch-2; turn—120 hdc.

Row 8: Repeat Row 4.

Body

Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 1 (does not count as a st), 18 sc in back loops only, ch 4, skip 26 hdc for Sleeve, 32 sc in back loops only, ch 4, skip 26 hdc for next Sleeve, 18 sc in back loops only, working last sc in top of ch-2; join with slip st in beginning sc—76 sts.

Rnd 2: Change to larger hook; (ch 3, 1 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in first sc, skip 3 sc, *(2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next sc, skip 3 sts; repeat from * around; join with slip st in top of beginning ch- 3, being careful not to twist—19 shells.

Rnds 3-16: Slip st in next st and ch-1 space, (ch 3, 1 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same space, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in ch-1 space of each shell around; join with slip st in top of beginning ch-3—19 shells.

Round 17: Slip st in next st and ch-1 space, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in same space, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in ch-1 space of each shell around; join with slip st in top of beginning ch-3—19 large shells.

Rnds 18-19: Slip st in next 2 sts and ch-1 space, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in same space, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in ch-1 space of each shell around; join with slip st in top of beginning ch-3—19 large shells. At end of Round 19, fasten off and weave in ends.

Sleeves (Make 2)

Rnd 1 (RS): With smaller hook, attach yarn with slip st in chain space at center of underarm, (ch 3, 1 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same space; continue working over 26 skipped hdc as follows: (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in first skipped hdc, [skip 3 hdc, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next hdc] 6 times; join with slip st in top of beginning ch-3—8 shells.

Rnds 2-3: Slip st in next st and ch-1 space, (ch 3, 1 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same space, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in ch-1 space of each shell around; join with slip st in top of beginning ch-3—8 shells. At end of Round 3, fasten off and weave in ends.

Work second Sleeve in same manner.

BackYoke Edging

Note: Work 72 sc evenly across each edge by working 3 sc in each pair of hdc row ends. Do not leave extra spaces between stitches and ch-3 loops.

With Right Side of the back of the Yoke facing, use smaller hook to attach yarn with slip st in row end of hdc at top right corner; ch 1, 12 sc across right edge. Rotate Yoke to work across left edge; work 12 sc and 3 ch-3 loops evenly across left edge as follows: 2 sc, ch 3, 4 sc, ch 3, 4 sc, ch 3, 2 sc, ending at top left corner. Fasten off and weave in ends. Sew Buttons on Edging under loops.

Gown FlowerTie

With smaller hook, ch 4; join with slip st in first ch to form a ring; *[slip st, ch 2, 1 dc, ch 2] 5 times in ring; join with slip st in beginning slip st**; work a 30" (76 cm) long chain, join with slip st in 4th ch from hook to form a ring; repeat from * to **. Fasten off and weave in ends. Weave Tie through first round of shell pattern on Body.

BED SOCK (Make 2)

Note: Toe and Sock Top are worked in continuous rounds without joining or turning. Place a stitch marker in the last st of each round and move up as rounds are completed.

Toe

With smaller hook, ch 4; join with slip st in first ch to form a ring.

Round 1 (RS): Ch 1 (does not count as a st now and throughout), 10 sc in ring; do not join, place marker—10 sc.

Round 2: *[2 sc in back loop only of next sc, 1 sc in back loop only of next sc] twice**, 2 sc in back loop only of next 2 sc; repeat from * to **; move marker—16 sc.

Rounds 3-7: Work sc in back loop only of each sc around, moving marker at end of each Round—16 sc.

Heel

Row 1 (RS): Ch 1, sc in back loop only of each of next 10 sc; turn— 10 sc.

Rows 2-3: Ch 1, sc in each sc; turn—10 sc.

Row 4: Ch 1, 3 sc, sc2tog twice, 3 sc; turn—8 sts.

Row 5: Ch 1, 8 sc; turn—8 sc.

Row 6: Ch 1, 2 sc, sc2tog twice, 2 sc; turn—6 sts.

Row 7: Ch 1, sc, sc2tog twice, sc; turn—4 sts.

Row 8: Ch 1, sc2tog twice; turn—2 sts.

SockTop

Rnd 1: Ch 1, 2 sc, work 7 sc evenly across sc row ends of Heel side, at front work sc in back loop only of each of next 6 sc, work 7 sc evenly across sc row ends of other Heel side; do not join, place marker—22 sc.

Rnds 2-9: Sc in back loop only of each sc around, moving marker at end of each round. At end of Round 9, fasten off and weave in ends.

HEADBAND

Work same as Gown Flower Tie, except make the chain 18" (45.5 cm) long.
