GAUGE

19 stitches and 10 rows = 4"/10 cm in skirt pattern with yarn doubled

18 stitches and 20 rows = 4"/10 cm in bodice pattern with yarn doubled

PATTERN ESSENTIALS

Yarn is used doubled throughout. Prepare the yarn by winding two equal balls and crocheting with one strand from each ball, or wind a center-pull ball and pull from both the inside and the outside of the ball.

CROCHETING THE JUMPER

THE SKIRT

Fsc 76, join with slip st to form a ring, being careful not to twist the sts.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with slip st to first sc.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc each st around, join with slip st to first sc.

You now have 152 sts.

Rnd 3: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), 4 dc in same st, *dc in next sc, (skip 1 sc, dc in next sc) eight times, (5 dc in next sc) twice; repeat from * six times, dc in next st, (skip 1 sc, dc in next sc) eight times, 5 dc in last st, join with slip st to top of ch-3.

Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with slip st to first sc.

Rnds 5-16: Repeat Rnds 3 and 4 six times.

Rnd 17: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with slip st to first sc.

Rnd 18: Ch 1, slip st in first st, *ch 1, slip st in next sc; repeat from * around, ending last repeat ch 1, join with slip st to first sc.

Fasten off.

THE BODICE

Attach yarn to chain side of foundation rnd at the join.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in each st around, join with slip st to first sc.

You now have 76 sts.

Rnds 2-6: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with slip st to first sc.

Rnds 7 and 8: Ch 1, sc in first st, dc in next st, *sc in next st, dc in next st; repeat from * around, join with slip st to first sc.

Rnds 9-15: Repeat Rnds 2-8.

Rnds 16-20: Repeat Rnds 2-6.

Rnd 21: Ch 1, slip st in first st, *ch 1, slip st in next st; repeat from * around, ending last repeat with ch 1, join with slip st to first sc.

Fasten off.

THE SHOULDER STRAPS (MAKE 2)

Note: Shoulder straps are worked in rounds to form tubes, giving them double strength and the ability to maintain shape.

Fsc 14, join with slip st to form a ring, being careful not to twist the sts.

Rnds 1-34: Ch 1, sc in first st and each remaining st around, join with slip st to first sc.

Fasten off.

ASSEMBLING THE JUMPER

Pin straps to front and back of bodice, making sure the join lines of the straps run along the center of the undersides. Sew to bodice with doubled yarn. Weave in ends. Block.
