YOU WILL NEED

■ DROPS Muskat (100% cotton 50g/100m),

Yarn A Light Grey (19)

Yarn B Peach (10)

Yarn C Old Pink (29)

Yarn D Light Pink (06)

■ A 4mm (US G/6) hook (for flower motifs only)

■ A 4.5mm (US 7) hook

■ Lace trim, approx 2 (2.5:3)m or 2(2 1/2:3)yds

■ Button, 1.5cm diameter

■ Stitch marker

■ Tapestry needle

TENSION

7 pattern repeats (14 sts) x 10 rows in htr pattern st to measure 10x10cm (4x4in) using a 4.5mm hook

NOTES

The dress is worked top down in one piece and seamed up the back, leaving an opening at the top.

The flowers are crocheted and sewn on at the yoke.

Surface crochet leaves and a pretty trim are added to finish the dress. Please note that where chain sts form part of the stitch pattern, they are included in the stitch counts.

YOKE

With a 4.5mm hook and Yarn A, ch47 (49:51).

Foundation row Htr into the third ch from the hook (counts as 2 htr), *ch1, skip 1 ch, 2htr into the next ch; repeat from * to end, turn. [68 (71:74)sts)

Row 1 (WS) Ch2, htr into st at base of ch (counts as 2 htr), htr in each st to the last st, 2htr in the last st, turn. [70 (73:76)sts]

Row 2 (RS) Ch2, htr into st at base of ch, *ch1, skip 1 st, 2htr into the next st; repeat from * to end, working 1 htr into the beginning ch-2, turn. [106 (110:114)sts]

Row 3 Ch2, htr into st at base of ch, htr in each st to end, turn. [107(111:115)sts]

Row 8 Ch2, htr in st at base of ch, htr in each st to the last st, 2htr into the last st, turn. [126 (132:142)sts]

Place stitch marker in the row end to mark the base of the back opening.

Row 9 Ch2, htr in st at base of ch, *skip 1 st, 2htr into the next st, repeat from * to the last st, 1htr in the last st, turn. [127 (133:143)sts]

Row 10 Ch2 (counts as htr), *skip the next st, 2htr into the next st; repeat from * to end, turn.

Repeat Row 10, 0 (2:4) more times.

DIVIDE FOR FRONT/BACKS/ARMS

Foundation row Ch2 (counts as htr), skip the next st, 2htr into the next st, (skip 1 st, 2htr into the next st) 8 (9:10) times, ch8 (10:10), skip 29 (29:31)sts, 2htr into the next st, (skip 1 st, 2htr into the next st) 15 (16:17) times, ch8 (10:10), skip 29 (29:31)sts, 2htr into the next st, (skip 1 st, 2htr into the next st) 8(9:10) times, turn.[85 (95:101) working sts]

Row 1 Ch2 (counts as htr), *skip the next st, 2htr into the next st; repeat from * to end of row, turn.

Repeat Row 1, 5 (9: 13) more times, changing to Yarn B in the last st.

FIRST TIER OF FRILL

Row 1 Ch2, htr in st at base of ch, *ch1, skip the next st, 2htr in the next st; repeat from * to end, working 1 htr in the last st if working into an even number of sts, turn.

Row 2 Ch2 (counts as htr), *skip the next st, 2htr into the next st; repeat from * to end, working 1 htr in the last st if working into an even number of sts, turn.

Repeat Row 2, 6 (8:10) more times, changing to Yarn C in the last st.

SECOND TIER OF FRILL

Work Rows 1 and 2 as for First Tier. Repeat Row 2, 8 (8:10) more times, changing to Yarn D in the last st.

THIRD TIER OF FRILL

Work Rows 1 and 2 as for First Tier. Repeat Row 2, 2 (4:6) more times. Fasten off.

BACK OPENING

Sew back seam from lower edge up to stitch marker.

With a 4.5mm hook and Yarn A, ss into top Back Right corner, ch1 (does not count as st), 23dc down towards the stitch marker and up other side to top, ch4 to make button loop, dc into top

Left Back corner.

Fasten off securely.

FLOWER MOTIFS (MAKE 5)

With 4mm hook and Yarn D, (ch6 and ss into the first of those ch) 5 times, ss to the first ch of round to join into a flower. Fasten off, leaving a long tail end for sewing.

TO FINISH

Using pictures as a guide, sew the flowers onto the front and back yoke of the dress.

Surface crochet or embroider leaves neatly using Yarn B.

Sew lace trim to the WS around the hem so that the edge of the lace shows beneath the bottom of the dress.

Sew on a button at the back, opposite the button loop but lined up with it. Weave in all ends and block gently.
